Found this Bogner 2x12 on the used GC website. I called and talked to the rep at the store. He said there was a little bit of tolex seperation at the seam. I asked what he could do on the price. It was listed for $549.00. He put me on hold and came back and said they could do it for $400 plus tax and shipping. I’m was like hell yeah, let’s do it. Keep in mind I went back and referenced the picture they had listed and I could not find any blemishes. I figured it was minimal and wouldn’t be that big of deal.

I detailed my journey of the repairs with the following pictures. Perspective is an amazing thing! “A little bit of tolex damage.”

He is a turd for misrepresenting it, but for $400 I'd probably just glue it and call it a day, as long as the speakers are cool and it sounds like it should. I would still say $400 is a killer deal there.

GC is notorious for this. I bought a MIUSA Charvel from GC Used that was listed as "good condition, some scratches" and when it showed up the entire backplate had several huge cracks in it. It also showed up without the case that the ad said it had. They were so confused when I went to return it and couldn't understand how I felt ripped off after paying $950 for a fairly damaged instrument that was NOT pictured in their ad.

If you glue it, make sure to use clamps. Also, I’d even consider using some finishing nails driven in on angles in that area where the tolex is pulled up. This way you will never see the nails when you glue back down the tolex.

Did you repair it yourself of pay someone? Looks good.

Yeah , that’s what I said for $400 I was willing to work with it.

My OCD kicked in.  it was delivered to me yesterday a 4:00 pm. I got up this morning and decided to fix it. It separated at the joint and wasn’t budging with manual force. I dropped wood glue into crevice and used three drywall screws. That pulled it right together. I used some tolex glue to get the tolex back down. But there was still a small amount of wood showing in some spots. I used a sharpie to color the wood black. Turned out pretty good.

On another note. It sounds f’n killer!!

Wasn't sure if you were pissed off or what and wanted to return it...hahahaha. Still a great deal, looks fine to me. Just make up some cool story about how the damage happened...hey now it's "relic'ed"!

Same thing happened to me with a Bogner 4x12, they listed it as "Excellent" but it showed up with the tolex torn up all over the thing. I had it shipped to my local GC for pickup and declined it there, ended up having to eat the shipping cost store-to-store but I guess that's just the cost of doing business with that place.

GC bit me twice. I don't trust them anymore.

You did a helluva job on the repair though!

Cheers
