WTF? Never seen it so bad.

Cheap fucks, offer me $120 for a Squier bass I have on CL for $200. I always put my bottom line price. FIRM. These fuckers can't read it seems.

Now let me know if I'm off base here. I paid $190 for the squire bass new, about 2 months ago. I needed it to finish up a few recordings as we're down a bass player. I put a hipshot bridge and tuners on it, which was about $130 in upgrades. So I'm not desperate for cash, unlike all the cheap fucks out there, so I priced it what I thought was reasonable. The thing is basically brand new. This fuck starts saying I put hubcaps on a piece of shit and the pickups suck.

I have other shit on there too, priced reasonable, sick of losing my shirt to vultures.

I hate selling on Craigslist, even getting people to show up for free stuff is a pain in the ass. My buddy was trying to sell a nice burl ibanez for cash and people kept offering to trade him 2 iphones and a box of hair gel and stuff for it. Bass looks nice to me.

To be honest, personally, I don't think that's worth $200. Upgrades don't add their cost to the value of the instrument, especially to a cheap instrument. And even though it's like new, used is used. I'm not a cheap fuck, I don't low ball and I pay fair prices for instruments, and I would be surprised if you got $200 for it.

Well to me, I look at it like this.

If you're average CL Cheap Fuck went and bought that new, and put upgraded tuners on it, they would be out $300 or so. The stock tuners are basically absolute shit. I know they don't look at it that way.

But I'm not losing my shirt on the thing. I'm tired of it, that is giving cheap fucks deals. I start thinking about fists and broken teeth when I think about it. I always give people what they ask. I don't haggle. I make good money and don't have to. I'm not desperate to sell it, so buy mine or don't bother me and go buy a new one.

Mine is basically brand new.

I know I might come off as a bit unreasonable. But I'm at a point in my life where I've wasted a lot of money on gear and I'm sick of eating it.

1st off...putting your bottom line out there right off the bat is your prerogative, but people like negotiating because it makes them feel like they are getting a deal. 2nd, depreciation is real and as soon as you walk out of the store where you bought this the value immediately drops to 60% of what you paid for it. Even if you sold it right outside the door of the shop to someone, it's value is only going to be 60% of what you paid. You might disagree, and if you're lucky you might find a sucker who disagrees the same as you and you could sell it for more than 60% but those chances are slim. 3rd, upgrading an entry level instrument like this doesn't really add any value at all. It's like dropping a Corvette LS7 engine in a beat up Chevy 1500...it might perform the same as the high end item but it still looks like the low end item. And yes, I have seen someone that did exactly that...he thought he could win more money street racing that way

Bottom line is nobody wants to pay a premium for an entry level instrument. If they were going to pay a premium, there's no reason that you wouldn't just jump up and buy a MIM model instead of your Squier.

Stuff is definitely not moving. People come up with some of the stupidest low-ball offers too. I think upgrades do add value. They cost money too. Just stick to your guns till you get your price. Someone will come along.

Well I could see if I was desperate, then I'd go much lower.

But when I put FIRM, it's to weed out people bothering me. At my job, I get about 1 email every 30 seconds. It's brutal. I don't want to deal with endless emails from knuckleheads.

I realize it's entry level. But these things are pretty fucking solid basses for the money. Throw some better pickups in that thing and you've got close to a MIM Fender quality bass IMO. But as I said, CL people don't think like that. The ones that acutally have the capacity to think.

I get people asking me to come pick them up, bring them to my place to check out the instrument. Seriously. That guy was 50 miles from me too. I told him sure. Round trip fare is $100

I get people that email me "hey man, got no car."

I'm at the point where I've weeded out all the losers in my life. If you're 30-40 and you've got no car, go fuck yourself I don't want to deal with you. Heh, I'm on a tear today. Got a work bonus and the gubmt stole 1/2 of it. Pretty pissed off.

This. Upgrades don't mean shit on the used market and it's a fucking Squire....of course your going to receive low ball offers. Most "serious" buyers wouldn't bother to even look at it, because they're looking for something of greater quality. And, that whole thing about it being basically "new" means NOTHING. If you bought it yesterday and never played it....to a buyer it's still USED.

Well it's from guitar center, so it was used when I got it.

But I did clean all the boogers and sweat off it when I got it home.

But I've always operated like I do, my main point, besides the bitching was that shit doesn't seem to be moving at all these days. I have other shit priced pretty low on there. Stuff I'm sick of looking at. Like a an extra pair of Rokit 5 monitors. I had them on there for $75 for a pair, in box, new and it took me 4 months to get rid of them. Friend gave them to me. He got smart and got out of music completely. :D

Well, it definitely isn't moving like it once was. Seems like an over saturation of products with fewer and fewer buyers available as the years go on. IMO, it's the future of things to come.

Better off putting it back to stock and selling the Hipshot parts separately.

I figured since it was tax return time things would be happening. Not so.

There's your problem, right there... It's not original.

It is the economy in general. But the squire name in general has a bit of a stigma. change it back to original and sell the rest of the parts. tell "them Cheap Fucks" to meet you at Wal-Mart and then beat there ass with it if it makes you feel better. You ever had your ass beat with a inexpensive guitar it probably feels as solid as an expensive one.

I've sold a few guitars recently and gotten some ridiculous lowball offers. What's even more annoying is what I got on Ebay about a guitar I'm selling now. He Messages Me. Critcizes the guitar, tells me my price is unrealistic yet he wants to know my bottom line outside ebay? Then I look up his stuff and he's trying to get $2700.00 for a 1987 Jackson soloist. I think the "everything for free" mentality is spreading and people think a 1 year old mint condition $4000.00 guitar is only worth $1500.00 .

you should contact him and insult him in the same manner.

I can't deal with the craigslist douchbaggery that goes on anymore. I usually sell on ebay but I hate
the new ebay/paypal return policy. I don't want to deal with people wanting to return stuff months later
because they f!@ked it up. And half of the buyers don't leave feedback. Also the fees and shipping take a big
chunk out of the sale. I have a few heads and guitars that I am trying to move now, but am doing it through
friends, locally. It may take a while but it will be cash with no headaches.... I hope!

I absolutely will not do ebay on large sells. They can go fuck themselves. I hope they go out of business. Fucking fee to list, fee to sell, paypal fee and then you get fucked on shipping FAUCK YOU. I'm pretty much done selling on ebay. The shit will sit on CL forever for all I care.
