Exactly this. I can’t picture him finally coming clean about his gear after all these years, and I’m not one of the believers that it’s a straight JB in the bridge.

I’m the same way, just never been into LP style. I’ve never even owned an LP style guitar, although I’ve come close to pulling the trigger a few times. If I get one, I think I’d try an ESP Eclipse in flat black with gold hardware.

I still have one LP, and I kinda have to force myself to pick it up and play it. But when I do, it's such a different sound and feeling from my superstrats that I usually end up coming up with some cool new licks or what not. That I can then play on my superstrats when I put the LP away again for a long time.

I've had a love/hate relationship with LP's. I've wanted to hate them over the years, but I just cannot deny the fact that they sound fucking great! I've finally bonded with one, and I prefer to play it over my much more $$$$ guitars.

Interesting! Love Tool and love LP's and Silverbursts. Just traded one away and regretting it. Was looking for a replacement and all of a sudden there are all these folks trying to get like 5-8,000 for an old silverburst. Wonder if they heard about this and think it will jack prices up? Anyway, will be interested to see details but would be more interested in a vintage one.

But if indeed it's to be a Jones replica, there are a number of things that would differentiate it from the standard reissue Silverbursts:
- maple neck, not mahogany
- metallic auto paint, not some "look alike"
- jumbo SS frets
- Allessandro pots
- custom wound SD Distortion, has the ceramic in it, but is scatterwound to the best of my understanding)

And no, it won't give anyone who buys it the creativity that AJ possesses to actually create his musical artistry. It's fucking silly to think anything else. I pass on all signature guitars (don't start with the "but Les Paul is a signature guitar..." argument, you KNOW what I mean) as they're never truly the same as the artist's guitar, and they won't afford you any further "advancement" if indeed you're trying to replicate their tone. All those latter aspects come from being the actual artist, with how they perceive causality of instrument & gear & call/response.

Then there's the fact we've got alchemy happening at the amp level.

And herein lies the beginning of what simply "can't" be an Adam Jones replica. Furthermore, ya think Gibson's WILLING to put SDs in THEIR guitars? Or Allessandro pots?? NAFC. Nope. Sorry... And if it's simply a spin off layer-bake-cake silverburst Lester, I highly doubt AJ would want his name associated with it. Hell, SD won't even sell you a "AJ wound" bridge pup if you call their custom shop - they're just in "non-disclosure formation" all the way, so, ya, it's just not likely IMHO.

And please don't get me wrong - I am a massive fan of LPs. Unlike many above, they're about the only guitar I can actually play properly on - they're "home" to me. Love me a good Lester!! LOVE 'em.

Before obsessing over which Duncan he uses, I'm more interested in whether he keeps the stock 100k tone pots in his LPC's. Because apart from the bridge vol they look like stock ones. That'd make more difference than different Duncans.

Unreal. I think I paid about $3k for each of my three Silverbursts. $6k? $8K omg. Granted, that one '79 does look brand new...
But the hype around these is stupid. The paint has zero affect on how they sound. It will sound and play just like any other LP Custom from the same years.
