Will I regret only getting 112 for strictly bedroom playing vs. a 212?

No.

I have a 50w with both the 1x12 and the 2x12.

The 2x12 is overkill for a bedroom, too damn loud. It's great for a good sized living room, but not a bedroom.

I have a 2 x 12 and I can play it at midnight in my apartment with 2 babies sleeping. It can get so quiet that you actually hear the acoustic plucking of the strings louder than the amp. Maybe the 1 x 12 is quieter, I don't know because I haven't played one, but the 2 x 12 can get down to almost inaudible levels.

I agree. I can play my Mark Iv through my 2x12 at stupid low volumes for bedroom playing. Obviously it doesn't sound as great as it does when it's loud, but it gets the job done.

Funny question to ask when 1/2 the forum members have stacks of 100W marshalls for bedroom playing :D :D . But I used the 50W 5150III and it's matching 2x12 in my finished basement, usually at television volumes...maybe a bit louder and it is amazing. I think either one will be good, the 2x12 will probably have more balls and fill the room with sound more. That's definitely one thing these cabs have: they have ALOT of low end and sound that fills the room.

Good luck.

I play in a standard 10x10 bedroom, but I get a little loud. I know I don't need a 2x12, was just curious if I do lose much of the room filling sound as RevolverRT put it if I go 1x12? Thanks guys!

Wanted to make a clip today at "lowish" volumes to see what it sounded like on camera. This is at "television" volume, as if you heard someone in the next room watching tv or something. You can definitely talk over it if you speak up a bit. Room is kind of big though, 18x28? finished basement. Let me know what you guys think, didn't want to start a new EVH 5150III thread, as the front page is littered right now lol.

That's what an amp should sound like. I might have to give in and pull the trigger on one.

Sounds great! Maybe I will spend the extra duckets for the 2x12.

I've tried the head through a Marshall 1960 with g12-t75s, 4x12 with g12-65s, the match ing evh 2x12, And an Avatar 2x12 with emenance speakers....the Evh 2x12 beat them all by a long shot. Had the low end thump that was clear and not boomy, the clarity to hear chords ring out, and harmonics improved. Would have liked to try the 1x12 but GC didn't have it in stock.

The clip: its on the blue channel, gain at 2oclock, bass at 2oclock, mids at 10:30, highs at just over 12:00, presence at 1 o'clock and resonance at 1 o'clock. Through a schecter s1 elite with stock Duncan designed pickups (passive). No fx. Just chord, guitar, amp.
