Are there any tricks or methods of tightening up the bass response in a 412 cabinet? My EVH 412 cab is way too boomy, and I'm trying to figure out how to stop the flub. I can only turn down the bass in my amp so much before it sounds like crap. So if anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.

You can try what Bogner does: foam/insulation/batting on the back panel.

You can try other simpler things first, like using casters, not having it too close to a wall etc.

I have a couple of cabs with no casters and use Auralex GRAMMAs with them, they work good.

Some guys don't like this suggestion but have you tried using a TS based pedal like say a Maxon OD808 set as a clean boost ? That might do the trick

I thought that was to tame the high freqs?

I did that with cotton batting from Wal Mart on the back panel of a Avatar 2x12 I had and it did help tame the boom

Yup. Tightens and seems to focus the sound more.

the easiest thing to do is get it off the floor
the connection with the bottom of the cab and the floor creates a sympathetic vibration that gives a nasty bass bump, esp if it's a wood or concrete floor, with wood being nastier than concrete since it's more resonant.
try putting the cab up on milk crates which will breathe more
