Not my favorite but I got a pair stupid cheap. They are going in a mid-level hardtail HH Ibanez that I am in the middle of a crown/level job. I am also cutting a bone but for IT later today when I have time. , and it had stainless steel saddles from the previous owner. By the time I am done with the work, it should be a decent guitar. So most of it is solid from the bones standpoint.

It's pretty bright so I think the invaders will be better tolerated.

IIRC they are pretty dark. Any recommendations to brighten them up? Would 1M pots be a good thing in this scenario? Just kinda thinking. Pickups will liklely be here on Friday, so if I ordered parts today I could get them around the same time.

I may go with a 5 way switch for some other pickup options as Ibanez does on some of their Prestige HH models.

Why not wait until the pickups are installed before you chase your tail on what they "might" need? They very well may sound perfect as is.

I have had them before. I kinda know what they *might* do.

If someone had a solid suggestion I would order the parts so they would be here if I needed around the same time as the pickups. That's why. I work on enough stuff that worst case scenario the parts could sit and not be used if I lived it. I would just rather not wait.

I ordered some 1M pots. There was another person thinking exactly as I was on another forum. Should help. We will find out I guess

Let me get this straight, you want a brighter pot for the darker pickup going in the bright guitar?

After the level and crown and cutting a new bone nut it's not as bright of a guitar as I remember. I just hadn't touched it for a while.

I am going to experiment when everything gets here and see what yields the best results. At least I have the option and parts when it gets here. It very well could be 500k or 1M or a combination of either. I needed some 1M pots around anyways, so we shall see.

I hope you *guess* correctly. On two occasions in my life I have tried a pickup I loved in the same exact model guitar I had because it worked so well in another guitar I had. Same woods, same original pickups, similar weight, same specs, etc, the only real difference was color, only to have the second guitar not come out like the first guitar. Had to go back to the drawing board and pick something else. Still chuckle over that one and will never understand it but it was a twilight zone type experience for sure.

My alder ESP Horizon was also super bright ... stuck an Invader in there and it almost did the trick, but the ceramic magnet shrill treble response is something I don't care for at all (not the amount of high end, but the texture it has). Then I swapped the ceramic magnet for an Alnico 8 and voilá. Perfect PU for this guitar. The Inv8der.
In my case I just replaced the center magnet for Alnico 8, the small ones (yes, the bridge invader PU has 3 magnets) were replaced by just some plastic bars used as spacers)

I did have great success with the 1M ohm pots, a PIO. 047uF cap and a treble bleed on the volume. That was the best combination overall I tested with 500k pots and different caps and that's what worked best.

Solid results in the end game.

I’ve been exactly there.. I had a Hamer USA Diablo that sounded amazing; it had a JBJ pup(she’s got the rep as a great pup winder for SD). Pulled the pickup and sold the guitar. Put it in another USA SS and the tone was meh at best...that’s when I realized the wood quality mattered most. Great wood, great sounding guitar with any pickup imo.

I got an F-Spaced JB if you want to try it. Took it out of a DK2.

Thanks but I am sitting good on pickups.

With the components I have in the Ibanez right now, I am sitting pretty good!

Thanks though!
