Anyone ever worry about being sick a week or two prior to a show and losing vocal ability? I guess if we just play an instrument, we can get by but what about singers, either lead or backup …. What do you do two weeks prior to a show for your voice? I almost never worry about my ability or inability to play guitar ( not greatest/not worst): Just enough to fool the masses I guess. But singing to me is what stands out as a pitfall. Personally I act as if Covid is all around me. What do the professionals do? Jesus they smoked, drank, stay up all night with “nasty women ?” who make them do terrible things and then go out the next night and sing again. I don’t get it; figuratively and literally. I have a show next week and I become that crazy fucker on the original Creep Show who didn’t like bugs. That’s a stretch of a reference but the 50 year olds get it. Maybe that’s it; if I was 25 years younger it would be a hell of a lot easier. Just pondering on a Saturday night while drinking Willett bourbon.

Yep, that highfalutin living's for the young 'uns I reckon bro'.

I think the exceptions are generally dudes who never quit living it up. Once you "settle down" for a while going back to that routine, even for one night, can mess you up.

Moved your thread to OTC General. I explained the error, which anyone can make, here:
