I was sharing clips with a bud and since there's so few clips of this amp around he suggested I toss one up here for general amusement. (A small clip of the intro of this song was posted to a DSL20H thread a while back.)

So, full mix:

Just the guitars:

I'm still working at cleaning up the mix and master, but it gives you an idea.

This is bypassing the internal speaker (currently a Greenback because the stock 70/80 was horrendous) and running through a Mesa widebody with a C90 in it. It's mic'ed up with two 57s in a Fredman clip.

Bass is run through the same rig at half power, with a splitter to take a direct signal that runs through a speaker emulation for an 8x10 bass cab and a stereo chorus to give it some width in the mix.

The Redactive Golds are in a cheapo JS32T KV Jackson. They were super easy to install with the full kit, except for having to extend the output wires to reach the jack in the upper wing of the V.

The DSL has the preamp tubes swapped out for a 5751 in V1 (to tame the ridiculous compression it had initially), and two 12AX7s in V2 and V3.

Anybody interested in a decent home recording amp for Marshally tones, you could do worse for the price these go for.

damn that sounds killer! the isolated tracks show the tone very well. I love it!

I may have to get a set of those Redactives for my strat. Not using it much with it's current config.

It's cool how you hit on some classic thrash riffage and arrangement styles but didn't fall into the trap of just copying what others have done. Instead, you used those traditions as a starting point then moved it forward. Just when I thought you were gonna duck out of a riff and move on to the next you did just the opposite, by building on those riffs and building some more then ka-boom!

Such a killer arrangement, kept my interest all the way through.

I used to have one of the original Redactive pickups. Man, it was great. Sleeper pickups for sure.

They're great pickups for overdrive. A little overly bright for cleans unless you happen to like super jangly cleans, but that brightness really cuts through with drive and distortion.

Thanks, man. I have some classical music training in my background, and try to draw on it when arranging. It doesn't always translate when doing thrash or death metal, but sometimes it works.

I'd be curious to try the normal Redactives too, but thought I'd start with the Golds. The Reds now have switches on the back of them for different voicings and knowing me I'd be pulling the pickups out every few minutes to try the other switch positions.

The super easy setup with their wiring harness and the low price kinda make these a no brainer for somebody looking for a set of pickups on the cheap. The fact they sound this amazing is just bonus. I paid just over $100 for the two pickups and complete wiring kit. That doesn't even cover one EMG.

I have heard the wiring set is completely compatible with EMGs, so if I ever feel like picking up a 57/66 set (my current favorite EMGs) it's just a quick-connector move to get them installed.

Those Redactives are some legit pickups. I don't love actives, but I had a set of them, and liked them better than EMG 81/85 combos I've owned

I used to have a guitar with a RedActive in the bridge (original one, not the ones with the added dip switches) and an EMG in the neck. Yes, they're compatible, but I remember having to do some trickery to get it to work like flipping the quick connect plug on the pickup or the pot or maybe both. Don't remember for sure.
