Ghost's current tour

I had the pleasure of photographing Ghost on their current tour, besides a fantastic show, and spot on band, they were running Axe FX direct, using the Axe fx midi controller. WOW it sounded amazing!

I am going to their show tonight actually. Mainly to see Baroness but I am intrigued enough to to check out their set.

Report back on your thoughts.. I previously thought these guys were HORRIBLE. After listening to a few live clips though, I still think they are cheeseball and the singing is not that strong but some of the musical ideas and grooves come together well in spots (like that "ritual" song) Be interesting to hear what you thought of the live show as these guys seem to get good reviews on their live show.

Will do! My initial thoughts were the same, and still are when it comes to the lyrics, but after continually hearing how great the live show is, I am curious enough and am expecting a great show.

Baroness is my primary reason for going though.

To me it's like: a group that looks like it will deliver Metallica but gives you Nickelback
When you have that strong a gimmick, your music better not be this bland

I don't really mind the direction they have gone. I would think it almost worse if they tried to gutter vocal their way through a set. The guy's voice is a bit gimmicky but it cuts through and some of the songs have interesting parts where there is some groove. The whole thing is silly but then again, i love King Diamond so maybe i am giving a dude with gloves and facepaint a bit of leeway Is this anywhere close to being musically on par with KD? God no, not even a little bit. Laroque eats these guys for a snack before he even eats breakfast.

I think it was a bad idea for them to bring Baroness and Skeletonwitch along because both of those bands will blow Ghost away.

That about sums it up. Great shtick and I wanted to like them but the music is pretty lame. I suppose if your 15 and want to piss your parents off, they might be good
