Gibson 500T in a strat......

Would this be worth visiting ? I swapped the pickguard on my USA s/s/s strat and have already tried a JB (too cocked wah sounding) and a Dimarzio Super Distortion (too muddy/bassy). I think I'm going to pop my P-90 back in there. But before I do, I have a 500T from the early 90's laying in a drawer and I'm wondering how it would sound. I'm running 250k volume and a Fender "no load" tone pot.

I would change the volume pot to a 500k. This would help to get a better sound from JB or SD with a strat style guitar.

I had a Strat loaded with coil tapped 496R and 500T humbuckers on a 5 way super switch about 5 years ago and really liked it.
