Gibson 59 replica

I have talked with Tom Bartlett, the man behind these guitars. The guy on ebay "BuildaBurst" is not Tom but a guy who buys some of Toms wood and parts and some offshore parts and puts them together. No where near the quality of Toms work. I have asked him to stop by and post up here on Rig-Talk with what his shop is up to and what we can expect from a direct order. I saw all the photos of his shop and his builds and I am really impressed. I look forward to trying some of his guitars.

Brad,
Have you ever done a thread on the LP's in your avatar? Nothing prettier than a vintage burst LP.

a 59 Burst is the ulitimate guitar ever made.... now where did I put my spare $250K

Tom is all over the MLP board, and his work is insane.

I would love to have one of his replicas one day.

Just read/looked over that entire TGP build thread of Tom's....Oh my God, that is insane attention to detail! Dude is incredible!!!

Hello everyone!
I just wanted to drop in and say a quick thank you for all the kind remarks about my guitars! I generally don't document my build process publicly, but this particular build has gained a lot of attention it seems! I'm really happy so many have enjoyed it, and all the kind emails are really very nice!
I was invited to check out the forum by Brad, so I think i will do just that! Seems like a cool place to hang out
and BTW I am not affiliated with the eBay replica builder mentioned earlier in this thread, except he bought a couple of kits off me when he first started out, and a few other products. From my dealings with him, he seems a very nice guy, but I have not seen his work.

Welcome Tom, Killler looking guitars, I hope I can order one eventually!!!

Tell us a little about what makes your replica better sounding than say a Gibson R9 for instance, is it the wood, the build quality, the vintage correct parts?

Nico.

Tom,

If you could post up the pictures of your shop and the build process like I have seen on other forums that would be killer. You can start a new thread in the main forum to do so with my permission.

Amazing work, man! Love your guitars - will own one someday for sure. I saw the full kits you offer - I'm pretty tempted to get one of those, but I don't know if I've got the skills to build it...

Hey Nico. Well, i think Gibson is making some great guitars, but the differences are many. the glue, the finish, the lumber, the plastics, hardware, and the build quality all contribute to making them production guitars rather than custom items, with high attention to details. there are a lot of great factory gibbons out there though!

There is some skill involved in putting one together, that's for sure, but all of my customers have produced very nice results! You just need to go slow, and test fit all the time.

to bad my friends dad sold his real 59er to the dude from toto...

I'm located fairly close to his shop. I'd love the chance to check out his work, with the prospect of being a possible future customer.

Bunch of wusses letting wives keep their man cards in their purse. My wife keeps mine in a locked jewelry box next to my testes.
