Gibson Les Paul Custom silverburst prices

I see them going for about $2800-$4000 on ebay and craigslist all the time. most recently I saw an '83 pop up for $2100. Wish I coulda picked that one up.

It seems all the 70s-early 80s Customs went up in price in the last few years. It will be interesting to see if that sticks but generally speaking it appears that if you don’t overpay too much and hold it for some time you’ll always at least get your money back.

IIRC @FourT6and2 went thru a few of them.

Is the “Adam Jones inflation index” still the same now? Worse?

I know man, prices thru the roof.
I found an 83 SBC for $5800, all stock, plenty of fret left.
It got me to looking around, and that's by far the cheapest I can find.

Has to be the AJ effect. Even Mustaine got in on the action recently, grabbing an old SB.

Local guy is selling one for like 4k. 81 I think. If anyone is interested I will find out more. I think he finds these old gibbys around here and then of course resells for a profit. Nothing wrong with that but I hope he’s not getting them for nothing. He’s got quite a few. Need to find a crackhead to rob him…lol…that was a joke btw. I fuckin hate thieves.

So what is worth more, an ‘80 black LPC with player grade paint but very good to excellent as far as dings/headstock/binding/frets etc or same guitar refin’d in non-meconium Silverburst?

Asking for a friend.

I’d rather have the black, but I think the silver bursts are always big money.
