Anyone have any experience/opinions between the two of these guitars? I am in the market for a single cut of some sort, and have been looking at these two among some others. It seems like the Edwards would honestly be the way to go, in terms of price and what you are getting when pitted against a studio, but I've never had any first hand experience. I have played a few Studios, and have overall been unimpressed. Granted, this experience has been at GC, so I think it would be reasonable to assume that that skews some factors. So what do you think Rig Talk?

Never played an Edwards, but I have owned a few mid '90's LP studios. Both were nice players, one had an ebony neck and the other a rosewood. My only 2 complaints are that the necks were a bit thick for me and that the bridge pickup would often sound a bit thin, particularly on my black rosewood neck LP studio. The neck 490R pickup sounded awesome. My advice if you are going for a studio is to try to fine a nice used mid 90's version, I wish I still have my black LP studio

I prefer my Agile to both. The Edwards I had was an awesome guitar but I like the Agile better. Flame on.

Having played Headlessdeadguy's Agile Les Paul.........it FELT AND PLAYED GREAT!
With the Motorcity in the Bridge......it freaking ROCKED!!!
Played better then most of the Gibsons I have owned or played.

Do you think you just got a gem or is that the norm for Agiles?

My one problem with them is that I don't like how they do the horn. It looks emasculated to me

I went to Rondo music when they were still around and played a bunch of Agiles. I thought they were all dogshit.

Thats one opinion.......

The LP I played was great!
It had a thin neck and low action and sounded great!
What else do you need? :dunno:
If you tell me.........I would love to know.

Don`t know how much it means to you, but the Edwards is built in China, and the Gibson in the US.
The Eds seem to hold their value pretty well anyway, and they get a lot of praise. I`m lusting for a "Sykes"-model.

Thought Edwards was made in Japan by ESP?

I recall reading somewhere that the parts are cut in China then sent to Japan for assembly and finishing. Don't know how true it is, but it makes some sense.

Me too, for a while.
They are made FOR Japan by ESP, in China :D
But it`s not important, they seem to be of consistent good quality, look good, play good, get great reviews from most knowledgeable people that play them...

Interesting read. Am I reading this part right?

According to responses from ESP, the preliminary work on both Edwards and ESP guitars are done at this factory, from woodworking through painting.

So is that saying that ALL ESP guitars get woodworked and painted in China?

That is interesting. What I read in one of those threads, was that nowhere on an Edwards, you can read "Made in Japan". On the ESPs "Made in Japan" is printed on the guitar. Depends on what they mean with "Made"......

And all of this is important because Chinese people can't make good things or you just don't want to be supporting China?
