And all of this is important because Chinese people can't make good things or you just don't want to be supporting China?

Neither, its not really important. I had already heard vague things about Edwards and China, and I have been and continue to be leaning towards Edwards. I just found the bit saying both ESP and Edwards guitars started in the factory. And if thats the case, I am even more encouraged about Edwards, because my ESP Horizon is awesome.

I own 4 horizons, an MII & 2 Edwards. Horizons are my main axes. Edwards is 97% there. Out of about 10 Edwards LPs I've owned, there was only one shitty guitar, the rest were great guitars.

Me too, for a while.
They are made FOR Japan by ESP, in China :D
But it`s not important, they seem to be of consistent good quality, look good, play good, get great reviews from most knowledgeable people that play them...

I remember reading that thread and how it upset some people lol.

I have to say I have no regrets buying my E-LP-98LTS, it's 90% there to a LP at 1/3 or 1/4 (depending) of the cost.

Ok, now I have a question about the Edwards numbering. I am assuming higher number = higher quality or features? I really like the looks of the LP-92SD/QM, but I am wondering if one of the LP-98 models would be noticeably better?

there is no quality difference. the only difference is poly finish on 92 vs nitro finish on 98. this difference translates into significant difference in sound of the 2 axes. poly sounds more like horizons, kinda warmer with that horizon kinda resonating sound. nitro sounds very dry & crunchy.
