Gibson Moderne re-issues

Wow, Gibson reissues the L6S, now the Moderne. Are they pull out all the crazy looking guitars they had back in the day. The L6S is kind of Ugly but I like it. The Moderne, I didn't know existed before this thread, but looks like a flying V made love to an Explorer and after reading the background on the Moderne, that is exactly what it was.
 
Oofah, cant stand that guitar but far be it from me to stand in the way of someone playing what they love...

I completely missed the L6S. That's pretty cool.

A few years back I tried my hand at building a couple of Moderne-shaped guitars. 1 was an all-mohagany neck-thru with an ebony fretboard. The other one had an Edge Pro and bolt-on scalloped Ibanez Wizard neck. They were pretty cool. The guitars would rest comfortably on my knee when I played sitting down. When standing and playing, they had that nice long reach to the left like an SG...which is what I really prefer. This Moderne reissue is very tempting. But, after 25 years of playing SGs, I'm kind of reclined to the fact that they are always the 1st thing I reach for when I'm working. And the only guitars I keep around anymore are more like tools for working. but...this Moderne is tempting.

Though, I wanted one ever since I saw this video. Apollonia isn't too shabby either:

:lol: :LOL: classic Eddie money!! Modernes were supposed to be korina, I think these will be 2 piece mahogany if they are regular production. There's a clip I saw way back with billy g playing one of the early 80's moderne ri's and the tone was just killer!
