Shawn Lane used to come over to my father’s house in the 80’s to listen to his hifi with Snell Type A loudspeakers and Sumo amps, etc.

Found out Bob lived here at the time and made his amps.
Flash forward to 2019 and I talk to Bob, and realize we are eye to eye on JJKT77’s at full tilt and Mullard long plate 12AX7’s being the ultimate (Save GEC og 77’s).

Haven't had the sack to sell everything to get a 10n quarter stack ($7,500!) with the broken-in by hand Mesa vented VC “C90” Celestion Classic Lead 80’s.

Seems it may very well be the grail amp.

Any fans here? Owners?

Read the thread title and came in to mention Shawn. (y)

Did you know of 'The Memphis Monster' forum that was up 05-09?

There are a couple big Gjika fans here who got 10n’s recently.

I got mine about 2 months ago. I love everything about it honestly. It takes time to realize all it does. With the Gainmaster and the fuzz, it’s really versatile. The thickness of the tones is just otherworldly. You have to be in the room and feel it. No video or iPhone clip is ever going to do it justice.

I’m a working class serf 7500 is like trust fund / doctor/ lawyer / stock broker territory.
i could only justify it if i was actually making albums that MANY people would hear or in a pro band that seriously toured.
even then I don’t think I’d bring a gjika on the road.
this amp will be as revered as dumbles are one day.

It’s a lot of money, no doubt. I managed to get the funds together by selling other gear I’ve been collecting for many years, so it didn’t impact my bank account. I understand not everyone has that luxury.

I love how they sound in Bob’s youtube videos. I’d love to hear a proper close-mic’d/in a mix clip of one
