Wife and I caught this last night an IMAX dream theatre (recliners and better speakers basically) last night for $14 each. We normally don't go to the movies anymore but I'd say it was worth it. I will watch again someday. Helps if you have seen the first one, which we proactively did on Netflix (I believe). There were a couple of things here and there that I would have done differently if I was the Director. But this was another Ridley Scott movie and he is behind the Alien movies, the Blade Runner movies, Hannibal, The Martian, as well as the original Gladiator.

I feel this was especially impactful for us as we were just in Rome and the Coliseum not that long ago.

The ending in particular was very moving outside of the last scene in which the Coliseum floor is flooded and opposing parties are in actual boats and there are very hungry and deadly great white sharks swirling about.

I'm about as big a fan of Gladiator as it gets. It and Braveheart basically trade places for the GOAT films IMO depending on when I watch them. So I too caught this in theatres. I thought it was good. The water in the colosseum was pretty neat for sure. Denzel was good, always is, but there was just something about the lead character that didn't resonate with me. Perhaps it was hard seeing anyone other than Crowe in that type of role, IDK. It was good and I was glad they stuck to the original story line as best they could.
