I've got the post below yours re Gibsons Midtown... The Godin Kingpin is my other option... hella lottta guitars for the price...

I've been looking hard at something like that recently too. I wish they would make a guitar like it, but with their acoustic bridge in it. That would be a fun guitar to play.

I have only picked up 2 Godins and they felt great. But not many peeps carry these. This guitar makes me curious. I think Godin is def a good brand

I have owned a Flat 5X and currently own a Montreal. Easily the most versatile guitars I've played. Godin makes a solid product. My Montreal is the #1 axe in my stable.

How do they fair with hard rock?

Work for what I do exceptionally well, which is stylistically anywhere from contemporary pop/ska/classic rock/industrial/metal core . I rotate 2 rigs, Egnater M4/RiveraTBR5 and VHT Pittbull 50/cl. I dime the master on the VHT and often use musical feedback for ambience. I have played some of the solid body models like the LG HB, and think they are better suited for more aggressive types of music. My main issue is that I generally dislike most of the body styles. The Icon series is a step in the right direction in that regard.

Yeah I have heard some clips that sounded great with lots of drive ad some that I wasn't sure if it could handle right rock stuff. So in your opinion something like Lgx could handle metal better?

Yeah the LGX(SA) is better suited for metal and any of the Redline series are best for the brootalz IMO. Not at all to say that they are limited to one thing. Most of the models I've played are pretty flexible, which is exactly what I need.

The icon looks very interesting but I would probably then opt for the other model if it did hard stuff better. If I wasn't so concerned about having an axe to cover that I would def jump on the icon
