The SLO has been/is used by enough of a variety of musicians that I don't think you should dismiss it as not being a "total solution" amp. The PT and SLO are pretty different, so it just depends what sound you are after.
I guess that by a "Total Solution amp" I mean one that's great for low-volume home practice, as well as a huge variety of gigs. I am currently playing with a modern rock band, but used to play with country and classic rock bands (and still get asked to sit-in with them at certain gigs). From what I've learned, the SLO isn't going to be the best country amp... LOL. At least not as good as the PT100... or the XTC Classic that I currently have. And even most of the biggest SLO fans who own them seem to admit that it's NOT a low volume amp. So that's all I meant by that. I'd still love to have an SLO someday, but it'll have to wait until I can justify having TWO great amps. I sent my beloved EL34 Shiva packing two weeks after I got my XTC because I felt "guilty" for having both. I have a wife and 5 kids... so I'm not really comfortable having a wall of boutique-level amps hanging-around with all of those people to take care of.![]()
No worries. The PT is great. The SLO with KT66s does a pretty good country thing, but I hear ya on having too much gear.
