Wow! I'm way late to the bus on this band. Just discovered them! They sound crushing! I've heard they use 5150 IIIs.

Any other tunes by them you can suggest? Thanks.

great song though!

They use all versions of the 5150 line. They don't play extended electric guitars either, just standard down tuned.

Love them for years - since 1997. Joe Duplantier is a monster guitarist, song writer and vocalist.

Get all their most popular tunes here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... 0l0l0ll0l0

Just a few more worth noting.

Does anybody know what pickups they use?
Bridge- Seymour Duncan Zebra, Neck - Seymour Duncan Zebra.

Joe uses no effects, just guitar and instrument cable.

Is there an actual pickup called a zebra? I thought that was the cream/black color scheme, optional for all their pickups.

Yes - that's what a "zebra" pup is.

I recently tabbed out "Flying Whales" on my ukulele for http://www.ukulele-tabs.com. It's a big hit when I play metal on my ukulele. I need to learn more Slayer.
Just some positive reinforcement/criticism - you might want to look into expanding your musical horizons from the real master . . .

Any idea which Duncan model he uses?

This is old news, but this is pretty gnarly. I saw a kick ass photo today of the EVH 5150's they are using currently. I'll try to dig it up and post here later.

Here's their 5150 settings... EVH 4x12s, no boost, only a tuner and Carbon Copy (according to Nolly from Periphery).

The new album is stellar! In my SUV right now and has been since Monday.
Mouth of Kahla is a SICKKKKKKKKKK song.

They use Zebra SD 59's in their Jacksons and Joe uses a stock silver MiM Tele on some songs now too. All guitars tuned to DGCFAD.

Over the years they have used Rectos, 5150's and 5153's in that respective order.
I love their raw, mechanical yet organic sound.
My favorite current metal band fo sho.

'59s? Hah, I figured they were using some lower output pickups. Guess I was right. Thanks!

Yup you got it! You can hear the clarity and crunch through all that power with the low ouput pups. Joe uses dual 59's in his Soloist but the Lead player may use a JB in the bridge of his RR5 and a 59 in the neck. Which is stock for that guitar I believe.
