Trying to make a decision. Need Fender clean with the Bogner footswitch in crunch. Looking for a head, not combo. Thanks

I've been gathering feedback from the Shiva owners to see if they can give me info regarding the different options that they come with. Tubes, Reverb, and Year Model. I'd really like one with 6L6's to get the clean I want and to keep the wattage down for smaller gigs. Also, I'd like the option of having reverb on the amp on the event that o don't have pedals with me. Sounds like I know what I want, right? But some people's input has left me second guessing myself. Some say the ones with reverb don't have as good of a tone for some reason, while other swear by their EL-34's. Anyhow... That's my take

HEY!!! :gethim: You're double dipping here on the forum

Shiva - 6L6 OR EL34 - will blow your socks off for cleans. Reverb tank option is typically not as sought after as a pedal/stomp because
a) people like purity,
b) makes the amp heavier,
c) if it goes sideways it's an additional repair,
d) one pedal can offer a multitude of reverb FX, whereas a built-in tank is limited in its tonal breadth.

That's all I can offer you man, and I am a Bogner fanboi with ownership of all their popular heads - Shiva, TJ, Rev2, 20thX, etc. But bottom line - reverb in or out - the Shiva is an incredibly versatile amp and offers famous cleans on tap through and through. It's spanking and sparkly on one end and a bitchin' thrasher on the other end.

Peace,
Mo

Sorry for double dipping! It was an accidental duplicate post, because it looked like it didn't work the first time. I'm not sure how to delete it....yes, I'm a noobie

The Shiva has a nice growl and liquid feel for leads. Sort of a smoother jcm 800 but with less bark and more polish. I haven't played the 6l6 version in a long time but I loved the combo I played. Fantastic clean channel too.

Goldfinger - has arguably an even better clean channel. It's brighter and has that "chime" quality to it while the Shiva is a deeper shimmery clean. The dirty stuff is more 'open' than the shiva's and doesn't quite play itself and sustain like the Shiva. It's almost a brash sound for a Bogner. It's cliche but the GF is brighter like an old plexi while the Shiva is a refined 800.
