What are some good Dimarzio humbuckers you guys like in SUPERSTRATS [HxH FR trem] for ROCK/BLUES?

Looking to try some new ones.

If you comment on an relevant official Dimario vid on YouTube with your question Larry Dimarzio himself will answer it!

If they're single coil size, the Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues and Injectors are good. The Area pickups are traditional sounding but hum-canceling.

sorry - should have specified humbuckers

Then if it's humbuckers, you probably can't go wrong the 36th PAF's or Transitions for a little more output. The new PAF Masters sound good in videos too. They look like they have a little flatter frequency response.

I have the Dimarzio Breed bridge teamed with a PAF Joe in the neck in a somewhat bright guitar, and they're just what the doctor ordered. The Breed really thickens up the bridge and sounds like a more modern, hot PAF, while the Joe also does the hot(ter) PAF thing with a little bit more in the highs and lows; doesn't seem quite as tubby. Don't think you can go wrong with either of those!

AT-1 if you want a gentleman's JB with a little more focused low end and less rude in the highs.

36 anniversaries are nice and crunchy but in the bridge, a little bright in the wrong guitar. 36 anniversary neck is pretty nice though.

Kapo, agree on the 36th sometimes being a bit on the bright side. I've heard original PAFs could be a bit bright as well, FWIW.

I have transitions and for rock and blues I absolutely love them !!
IMO very versatile you can use the tone and volume to change them ,
I also have a coil splitter so I have that option.
I do not have them in a strat they are in a tele thiine .
Truly I must say they really sound incredible to my ears !!
I went to YouTube before I bought them andistened to Steve lukathers clips and a few others .
All I can say is for me for blues/rock they nail the sound I like !!
Best of luck !!!

Hey Jim, do you find them really hot? I looked at the specs and first thing that popped out was that Lukather sure likes him some gain! how is the clarity on those with gain?

Oh, and obviously there is the super distortion but that is just the classic approach to rock... maybe blues might not fit the bill but you could pull it off anyway if you have dynamics. What really is blues anyway? controlling the volume (gain) and picking hard with good vibrato.

I'm a fan of both DiMarzio and Seymour Duncan. I was never able to NOT find something that work well in different body woods.

Super Distortion in bridge, PAF neck

ToneZone in the bridge

EVO pair

Illuminator is a new one I recently tried and like it in the bridge

I have 36 anniversary pair in a Les Paul and they're staying put.

Check out all
DiMarzio

Duncan (recently put an Antiquity set in a R7 and love em)

Tone Zone is my favorite in a super strat. Nice, fat, and open. Pretty hot, but not as compressed as a super D.

The Norton is a good one to try first. It's probably their most balanced pickup. From there, Gravity Storm if you want a little more output and a more focused sound, Super Distortion if you want more tightness and more attack, Dominion if you want even more tightness and a more modern sound; and in the other direction, Breed if you want more output and more thickness, Tone Zone if you want the thickest sound possible.

PAF 36th Anniversary Bridge model (DP223) or Norton (DP160) for bridge pickup.

I'm a Dimarzio fan and I have to recommend the Norton and the FRED. I know there is a new and cooler Satriani pickup but seriously, try the FRED. It is a PAF Pro .... but a little bit more. The Norton really opened up my stuffy sounding Explorer

I've used many pickups over the years but it all comes back to Dimarzio for me.

Super Distortion, Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues, Injectors (put one in my main recording Stratocaster neck today), 36th Anniv's. I like the Fred and others I've forgot about.

I do love the Suhr Aldrich I have in a couple Stratocasters. Fantastic pickup.
