good les paul // copy ? 1200$ budget

I dont know why anyone who wants a les paul would buy a copy for 1200 bucks when u can get a real deal les paul classic or standard used for the same price range basically and by purchasing used it allows u to escape the quality issues of the most recent gibsons. Its a buyers market so the deals are out there if u look around and are patient and smart with your money. I prefer pre 2003 for standard production usa non custom shop issue.

i'd say buying a gibson will probably be easier to resell later too if anything happens, i'll keep my eye out on the used market, it's hard to pass judgement based solely on photos, but it's good to have an idea of what's out there as good copies

and good years for gibsons =)

I've got a Les Paul studio deluxe which is really cool. Studios don't get too much love here but its definitely different than your run of the mill studio. $1200-1300 new and I just saw one virtually unplayed recently for basically $1000. Especially if you plan on changing pups.

If you have a "better" copy by Burny, Greco, Tokai or ObG you may get even a higher resale price compared to a Gibson. The market for (very) good and rare jap. LP guitars is well established now with a growing community of guys who worship their guitars higher than 95% of the Gibsons.
And there's a reason for it.

Why buy a copy for $1200? You can find a nice used Standard for $1500 and have the real deal. Or buy a Studio for $500-700 and have some money left for some upgrades.

killer deal you got there =0 i'm looking at a similar specced burny that's on sale about 1hr drive from here, round the 800$ mark , from 88 or so , that orville looks sweet, long neck tenon to boot

You can find a lot of guitars, including Gibson for that money! Can't go wrong with the options listed above!

I got my standard for about $1200 used around 6 years ago I think? I would look for a used Gibson, personally.

i'm on the fence really, i've got a good deal on a burny, i'll be seeing if i can try it out in the next couple of days,

the orville otherwise looks slick,

i'd probably be better off in the long run / as well as reselling with a gibson, but it's about tone and sheer playability , and from what i've seen heard the copies do that amazingly well, perhaps better than a lot of the gibsons

Are you going for LP looks or tone? If it's the tone you want try an old Hamer studio, you should be able to find a great player for under a grand no problem.
