I want to have a boost for my Bogner 101B, but it has to be line level so I can put it in the loop. I know about the Boss EQ-20, but any other ideas? I hate having to set my 3rd Channel as a volume boost/lead, would rather be able to do volume boosts with all three channels so I can use each for leads OR rhythms.

Already done the volume pedal in the loop, kills too much tone, tried using pedals in the loop like a Boss GE-7, killed tone also. I have an Eb line level shifter, but I want to just use line level stuff to begin with if at all possible.

MXR Micro Amp in the loop is perfect for a volume lead boost. thats what i use. its a one knobber and it does not mess with the tone.

Pete, you`re fairly handy with a soldering iron...

Have you thought about getting a rack EQ of some kind, and just install a footswitch jack instead of the "bypass" button most of those have? I believe I`ve read that some of the Furman EQ`s actually had a ft.sw jack, but if you have the electronics knowledge, it shouldn`t be too hard to install one yourself. I think it might have been Ralph that mentioned it.

Hm, I figured using a guitar-level boost pedal in a line level loop would sound like crap, I'll have to give that a shot. Thanks guys.

That would probably work really well, but if I was carrying a rack I'd just use my axe-fx and put a volume boost in there... trying to keep it amp/cab/pedals/guitar :)

Can't you just put a patch cord in the loop and set the loop level lower, then step on your loop bypass switch to get back to your higher (normal) level? In other words, you don't need anything in the loop, just use your loop level knob for the volume difference you want...

I use it this way so the loop level knob is like a second master - makes it much easier to get down to really low volume levels too.

I know that works, but I have effects in the loop, so I can't do it that way.

Yeah, I understand. Hopefully the micro amp or similar will work :)

Dunno if you tried the EQ-20 or not...the one I had I felt murdered the good tone I was getting from my MTS stuff...not true bypass and I was using it in the series loop as you should..
