I am looking to buy some oil based wood grain filler for my Charvel project, but I cant seem to find a simple place to buy it. I did a web search and I get a ton of noise.

Does anyone know of a good place to buy from?

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish but sanding sealer is what's generally used as a start to smooth out the grain.

if a high build primer isn't enough, walk into a paint store and ask them about a grain filler, i got something at lowes or home depot for a warmoth project i had..

I bought some stuff for my partsocaster build from here:
http://www.woodcraft.com/

They happen to have a store about 5 miles from my house, so I went in and picked their brains a little about what I needed and they pointed me in the right direction.

I just did a search on their site. They have Pore-o-pac, which I have read is crappy...?

Couldn't tell you - I know about this much -><- about woodworking. I went in to talk to see if the BS meter went off the charts.

reranch.com

I got Bartley's oil based filler from them. It works very well. Also to the guys saying that primer would work well...if you are putting any kind of clear finish on it that doesn't work.

Edit: I missed the post where you said you went to reranch. You can actually buy products from them including good grain filler. They sell nitro lacquer (which I would personally not use, but guitarists seem to have a boner for it), primer, etc.

Re-ranch quote.
NOTE: OUR SUPPLIER HAS BEEN SOLD TO ANOTHER MANUFACTURER AND SUPPLIES ARE LOW. IF THE COLOR NEEDED IS NOT SHOWN IT IS UNAVAILABLE. NEW COLORS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE IN ABOUT SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS. ***

They do have "light" color, but I was looking for clear...not a big deal though and I may buy some.

Thanks for the post

Ahh, I missed that you were looking for clear, this stuff works excellent for that even though its water based:
