Yeah this is bullshit, thanks for the heads up. Who knows who is doing this that we don't know about...

I can't believe I didn't have any history. There is no option for my old account through a dial up company. That thing is primitive. I banned their search engine awhile back. I always browse with private browsing set on so I wonder if that has anything to do with not finding any history. Still should of had something.

Wow...this is fucked up, in my opinion. What about youtube? And gmail? Do I need to delete these accounts? Not happy about this at all.

Anything linked to Google accounts, including You Tube.

What could they get as far as personal info from my Youtube account? I already signed into google and "paused"/deleted my browsing history. I don't really want to get rid of my youtube vids...

It just collects search information within YT. Where you go, what you search for, if a link originating from YT led to something else like a purchase and from whom, how paid, etc. Targets a market for that and pushing, phishing, emails, etc.

I downloaded an add-on from Firefox called "Do Not Track Plus". Click add-ons on your FF browser. It's free and already working. Just so you know....you are being tracked on Rig Talk. Probably not by intention or on false pretenses. Just as a result of all the advertising and 3rd party. DNT+ just killed 22 hits on my browser from here.

Thanks, I was thinking more about security though

You can tweak it pretty good in preferences, security, and privacy. I'm not sure it will help you with Google though. I try not to use that search engine.

OK, thanks man

No problem here is an example how I run it "usually". I always have ask before sending a non secure form from a secure website checked.

sometimes I block third parties and advertisers. Some websites may run a bit bonky but there usually shite ones anyways. Always deny without prompting location services

why can't I see the privacy tab on mine?

@zz666 you should. Maybe your running a really old version of safari. If so maybe it's in the advanced tab settings.

Also in the general tab I uncheck "Open safe files after downloading". That way no shady program starts running by accident. Plus I always have private browsing checked from the Safari drop down menu.

I know its crazy especially if your running a pc. I need to get my other pc running just for fun I am getting rusty running a mac. Pc keeps you on your toes in the world of computing IMO.

I'm on a Mac and using 5.0.6 I need the latest OS to update, I might just ditch it, and use Firefox all the time

Maybe maybe not. The new "improved" safari isn't as good as the old one IMO. I didn't even need to run javascript with it. That rocked. No banners adds it was blistering fast. I'm not sure what changed something with with the new engine. I'm no expert all I know is I got away with it before now I can't. It only effected a few websites I went on. Then if it was real important I would turn it on.
