Gorm Pedal Board project almost complete.

So here is the Ilea Gorm pedal board project I took on. For amny of you, this would seem like a piece of cake. It was pretty simple in execution but seemed overwhelming to me as I am not generally one who builds anything.

I am stoked with ho it came out.















Still need to get my Dunlop CFH way and BBE Supa-Charger on there. Those will be here on Thursday.

Thanks man! Very excited. Came out better than I thought it would. Need something to carry it in though. Roadcases USA has a $99 case that would work but not sure how well they are built.

I was wondering about them myself. Also check out rondomusic.com. Cheap pedal cases but they're not made for lots of abuse. Might be worth checking out though

I used a rondo case for my entire 8 years in my band. I had to replace a couple latches and a handle but for 40 bucks it performed well during its time. If you are putting the board inside the case only for transport imo the rondo case would be fine. I used my rondo case as the pedalboard itself so it was prone to more abuse. I think im going to build a new gorm board to accomodate both rig setups since im a bedroom rocker these days. Looks like a fun project!

Just checked them out and they are just like 2" too short!!! Pricewise though the are comparable with the Roadcases USA ones. As you say Nate, it is just for transport so it should be fine.

This one is $119. It's a little thicker than the $98 one. The cheaper one is 1/4" ply. This one is 3/8". Does that justify the $20?

I was in the market for a 6 space rack case and priced 1/4" vs. 3/8" ply. In all cases the 3/8" ply was more expensive.

Having had experience with Rondo pedalcases myself (I've purchased 3 of them in the past), definitely go w/ the 3/8".

When I built my gorm board board I bought a body glove gig bag thingie that it fit in perfectly for like 50 bucks from samash.

Nice. I have 2 gorm boards sitting here waiting for the pedal board treatment. How did you attach the pedals to the board? I'm thinking of just sticking velcro fully along each horizontal board.

I used the 3M Dual Lock. It doesn't attract hair or dust. Held the board upside down last night after sticking everything on, shit my pants and shook the board like a drunken nanny! Worked like a charm!

I've got a couple quilted maple boards on the bench right now. Finishing up stain and will start shooting coats of lacquer and hopefully finish this weekend.

I would LOVE a furniture grade board. When I get my effects switcher I will potentially need a new board. My mother-in-laws neighbor is a retired cabinet maker. I am planning on getting him to build me something. I just don't have the tools to build something really nice.

The flip side of this is that you can buy the larger pedal train boards used without case for about 50$! Then you add your own carrying hooks and are done! looks good though..
