Anyone know why Bray doesn`t put an effect loop in the 4550 and Deluxe 100 ?

I think they come with a kind of direct out box to run a wet/dry setup, which he says preserves the tone.

Got it today. Probably gonna flip it. It's totally awesome and really has the mojo. But sounds no better than my modded 1959SLP, but it's a whole lot cleaner and I'd feel bad about beating it up while hauling it around to gigs and practices. Though it weighs plenty less than the 100w.

Not shocked. I've owned 2 Bray's over the years and they were both underwhelming...

The tone hunt goes on!

Nah, just gonna be happy with what I have (SLO, 5153 Stealth and 1959SLP). My 1959SLP really does kick ass. I just thought the Bray-modded 1987XL would be better and with more options. It is very kickass, but I don't need two of the same amp.

I haven't decided for sure yet, but I have $1600 into it now and may run it by Lowell Hunt first to make sure I'm not passing along any issues to the next owner. I will just want my money back out of it, plus shipping and PP fees. Will decide tomorrow after band practice.

I just brought it and my 4x12 out into the living room, since Mrs. Lee isn't around, and cranked it up pretty good. Damn, this thing sounds awesome. But I still think my 1959SLP is every bit as good. The 50w cleans up today better than it did yesterday when rolling off the guitar volume knob. I swear, every Marshall I've owned has sounded different every day, usually just different degrees of great.

Might want to give it a couple of days.... That 50 watt is mighty!

I would guess the 1959 has better low end punch - all 100 watt amps do!
