Cool. I like it. I posted in the other "road worn" thread, but I really like those guitars. The necks are really nice. I've noticed that the necks are going for $350 on ebay (well, maybe not selling, but that is the listed price).

bitchen guitar! is that a 9.5 radius and those frets look larger than your typical stock fender?

Congrats Chris

I've been suprised by Tele's in the past and been caught off guard.

Thanks! Nah, it's the vintage fretboard radius (which I thought would ruin it for me, but so far it's cool) and larger 6105 frets. It also comes with Tex-Mex pickups that sound great.

These Roadworn guitars are very resonant and real comfortable. I've had a few hours with it so far and love it. But I'll get even more quality time with it this week.

They're "Made in Mexico" and a little expensive at the regular price of $950. But I got mine for $807 + tax and I just now read that you can get them for $799 from Musicians Friend AND with a hardcase (you have to call to get that price, I believe.)

There are quite a few folks over at TGP that really like these guitars. And as you'd expect, there are a few that don't. I suggest that anyone in the market for a Strat or Tele try one of these out.

very cool, Yeah u know from what i understood is that they are assembled in Mexico but the parts are still coming from Corona Facility. Either way, i may look into the 60's model since they are attactive and Im not too overly concerned about the price tag either especially if it sings and plays well. I have a feeling they won't make them for long, which means they'll be good in value log term. lets here some Tele spank clips of that bad boy.

Looks pretty cool! I really dig the nitro finish. I really have been thinking about doing some extensive mods to my tele. I'd love to take off the finish, and re-do it in nitro laquer. I also want to add a neck humbucker...i'd be afraid to do any of it myself.

Ya, me too. Went to GC the other day and tried a beautiful PRS, a $10000 LP and a custom shop tele, and the tele smoked the others imho.

I'm convinced that thin finish guitars sound better.

Me too. I have a les paul faded standard (has a real thin lacquer finish that is more a matte than a gloss) and it smokes all the other standards I've played tone-wise. Not saying it's an R9 killer or anything, but usually guitars with thinner finishes resonate more, at least in my experience.

Pete

One thing that weirds me out about that guitar though... the fingerboard finish wear looks strange. I haven't seen many with a wear pattern that goes from the 21st to 15th frets up high on all strings BUT the low E... if that was really worn from playing, I would figure that it would have wear from playing the E blues scale (and have wear on the 14th fret D string) - it just looks like wear from someone playing chromatic scales way up high on 5 strings.

You don't think they'll be making them long? Maybe not... I was kinda figuring they'd maybe come out with other colors and maybe even other models at some point in the future, but I dunno.

The store had a few Strats and this one Tele. I compared a few guitars and this Tele won me over bigtime. But yeah, I'm thinking about selling my McCarty and adding one of the Strats to my small collection. I'll have my R8, this Tele, and a Strat.

I hope they don't stop making them personally because i think its competitive and a affordable product vs. buy the custom shop relics which are high cost. It's just a prediction around the economy, Fender does that historically too when and if the product doesn't have a consistent amount of revenue stream. They did it with the California series ( which were awesome guitars), the Big Apple series ( dual humbucks) and several other reissue series guitars. I remember they made a 68' reissue strat that was amazing, i should've never sold that sucker. The American Standard is the most consistent because its sells the most believe it or not.

I like the American Standard Tele's from the early 90's, they played great and sounded killer. but damn after seeing yours..im going hmmmmmmmm. congrats

Yeah, they have John Petrucci`s entire family playing these in :D

Tele, Strat, Les Paul the meat and potatoes of my world.

Congratulations on the Tele.

As soon as I am home from tour I am getting the 50's Tele and 60's Strat. I played both at a store in Munich and was blown away by how good they were. This store also had quite a few Custom Shop Relic Strats and Teles; the Roadworn sounded just as good IMHO. Looking forward to having those as I own zero Fender guitars at the moment.

You are not helping my Tele GAS. I have never owned a true Tele unfortunately. I have pretty much stuck with Strats which are my bread and butter guitar....

So how do these Road worn compare to the K line stuff in price and quality?

Rawk!!!

The thing that scares me a little is that the one time I did a shootout at GC (over about 25 minutes on a TSL combo), I thought the 50s Roadworn strat smoked an American Deluxe, 2 Am Stds, and an SRV.

That's a pretty common statement over on TGP. I mean, there are people that hate the whole relic thing or hate paying $1,000 for a Made in Mexico Fender (although they can be had for less.) But in general, I'm reading mostly very positive reviews of these guitars.

I didn't sit down and compare a bunch of guitars, but I can absolutely believe the Road Worn guitars sound better than alot of the other models with the thicker poly finish.

That guitar and my Musikraft that I did up in Tru-Oil has convinced me that less finish means a more resonant instrument.

Another thing that I've noticed with the Musikraft is that I'm better off taking it out of its case and letting it sit for ~30 minutes before tuning it up to let it equilibrate with the room (especially if the temperature is way different than where it was when it was last tuned up). When I tune it after about 30 minutes, it's good to go for the night. This could have been a little operator error, but it seems like it makes sense.

I wonder if the Roadworn's are like that...
