I rec'd my new Titan last week with a tube loop and the contour control. I've been playing it with an RG1527 (w/ Blaze Custom & Blaze Neck) and an RG7620 (w/EVO7 & Blaze Neck). For cabs I used two Marshall style Mojo 4x12s, one with Veteran 30s and one with K100s mixed with Reapers.
Two things jumped out at me right away; the different pickups in almost identical guitars made a huge difference in tone and this thing is way more versatile than I thought it would be. The contour knob really adds voicing/shaping control and can go from the low mid fatness to the upper mid knock. This thing gets great cleans, crunch and lead tones. It can do jazz or metal.
The clean mode on this is great. Much better than 95% of all high gain channel switchers out there. Warm and fat or bright and sparkley and everything in between. The crunch mode is cool too and is on the spongier side for a more vintage vibe. I really liked this mode with the gain set low (9 oclock) and the bright switch on.
Some said the lead channel reminded them of a 5150 and a VHT. I thought that was odd and scared me a bit because both have qualities I really didn't like. I can't disagree with that comparison yet I really like it.
Not quite as "dry" as the VHT and not as much of that mid grind the 5150 has. For rhythm playing it was full, mean, and tight and cut very well. Playing chords & riffs on the low B remained big w/out getting muddy at all. I liked the K100 & Reaper cab better for rhythms. Leads & single note melodies were fat and full yet still cut w/out any shrill. I liked the cab with Vet30s better for leads because they seemed to cut more of the 5150 mid grind than the K100s did and the notes seemed more balanced.
For a hand made, ptp amp with two channels (and one has two modes) that only costs $1250 shipped (stock) this is a no brainer. I paid an extra $150 for the loop and contour control and it's still a bargain.
