the settings for the best audio and decent video. The choices mught as well be latin to me. What do you guys in the know recomend?

thank you very much

Mine came with the video set at 720 or 780p [something] like that] which is fine, but can go as high as 1080p, which you don't need IMO.

If your shooting a LOUD amp, set the mic on "low", this will let you crank it a bit.

I usually set the camera 5 to 10 feet from the amp, straight on or slightly off axis, the mic's are at an angle so even if you center on the amp they will be off axis.

do you know the optimum audio setting? that the critical part for me. medium vid , killer audio.

yeah thanks its really cool im just not sure the best way to run it for killer audio, ok vid.
like the PCM or AAVG thing I have no idea what that is .. the manual is pretty minimal. Its easy to figure out but I just want to make the best use of it before I bombard everyone with my vids.

I dunno, but looking forward to hearing you do some clips of you amps with it!

Mine sez PCM or AAC.............stick with AAC, works fantastic.

Main thing is the mic setting, as i said for clips with any volume you want the low setting. Your level meters will tell you what works best.

Here's a clip that was about 100 db in the room......mic was on low.

Bitchen............thanks man!
nice clippie. Im not a brootz guy but it does sound tough.

I just got one last week and was wondering the same thing..

The Mic volume Hi, low and Auto is self explanatory.
But the Sound Quality settings in the Menu of the camera its self what are you guys setting it at???
I think that may have been what Jerry was talking about..

There is MP3 48-320 Kbps and PCM 44.1kHz 16 bit through PCM 48kHz 24 bit and ect..
Right now I have it set at 320 Kbps but haven't had a chance to mess with recording yet..

yeah
what is all that and whats best.
You don't have to mess with all that, it's ready to go from the factory, keep it simple.

Shoot some test video's & upload them to youtube.

The setting that work for me are:
Vid Quality: HD720/30
Sound: PCM
Sample Rate: 44.1khz
Bit Length: 16
Lo Cut Off
Scene: Auto
Auto Level: One Level Down
Mic GAIN: Either Lo or Auto

Looks and sounds good to me. Hope that helps.

One problem I ran into--with the factory default settings, I couldn't get audio tracks to import into SONAR 8.5 Producer when importing video. There's an article on the web about this, but basically you have to change from AAC to PCM, or change the bit rate on AAC to make it work.

"Video is the new audio"

What's the difference between AAC & PCM?

PCM: Pulse Code Modulation. Also known a Linear PCM, it is the standard audio format for CDs. PCM audio is an uncompressed, lossless storage system.

AAC: Advanced Audio Coding. AAC is a lossy audio compression format used in the Apple iPod, iPhone and iTunes music store.

Thanks Mark, by "lossy" you mean the audio looses some quality?

I have a HP a6407c PC with 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3072MB memory, 360GB hard drive, Windows Vista

My Zoom settings are... Video HD 720/30
Sample rate 48 Khz
Format AAC
Bit rate 192kbps
Low cut off Off
Scene Auto

Should i change anything? And is AAC for Apple products only?

The AAC is compressed, the PCM is not. PCM would be the one to go with but will take up more space :)

"lossy" compression is a data encoding method which compresses data by discarding (losing) some of it. The procedure aims to minimise the amount of data that need to be held, handled, and/or transmitted by a computer.

Ain't I a Google Genius...lol :)
