Was in the market for a Marshall jcm 800/900 but decided to splurge a little for the soldano . What’s everyone’s feedback with them ? Bought it blind haha.

My only experience is with the HR25 and I love it. Main complaint I have seen on the HR50s over the years is that they are not an SLO. I bet you will love it.

Common speaker choices are Greenbacks, G12-65s, Vintage 30s (mixed views on these with a Soldano), and EVs. what cab are you going to run it through?

Great amp, I had one. Loop sucks, and ultimately why I off'd it..

Please post a clip. This one has been on my someday list for a while.

You are really going to like the amp. I think it was well worth the extra. Observe the build quality and components, no ribbon cable or junk connectors.

I had an HR100+ about 10 yrs ago. Cool amp, needs a boost to tighten if you need tight. I thought the loop was fine? I don’t believe it’s the same loop design as the SLO. Back then it was a 1K amp used. Definitely gives an 80s modded Marshall vibe.

I bought mine in 2004. $750 with snakeskin tolex! It was a killer amp, and it was the same loop as the SLO. Designed for rack effects. Pedals sounded horrible.

I boosted it with a Zakk Wylde OD, and it sounded darn good. But, it lacked some low end, and neither the Boss GE-7 or MXR 10-band played nice in the loop, so I sold it.

I generally run all my time based / reverbs in front . So I’ll see how the loop is vs just in front of the preamp . Never really use a ton of either . Just like to add a little depth, also may or may not do the depth mod on this one . Making it closer to the plus models.

You'll want the depth mod, trust me..

I was going back through all the old recordings I had of amps I used to own and the Hotrod was, by far, the best sounding of them all. Was planning to pick one up after hearing the recording again and went to look at prices and they're insane now. You used to be able to buy those for like $1000 all day long :'(

Got it today got to spend about 30 mins with it at band volume sounds killer ! Really surprised at how dynamic this thing is . Random question is the last pre amp tube for the efx loop? It was not lighting at all. But the amp sounded good .

Does anyone here have the correct depth mod scheme ?

Just a warning...the HR100 I had was mud city with the depth. Sounded much better, clearer after I removed it.

Thanks for the heads up ! Actually having a hard time finding a tech to do it . And I’m pretty happy with it as is . Experimenting with some boosts up front . But after the master is past two and half that thing comes alive !

The more I play it the more I’m loving it ! 1st soldano for me . Super dynamic responsive eq. Really fast under the fingers . Killer amp !!
