Update it to the latest eprom (2.1, I think), and do the 3.666 mod. That and the Engl 530 were the best preamps I ever owned. The 3.666 gives you the Mesa Dual Rec tone from your MP-1, for $20 in updated parts.

I have a friend who has a stock and a 3TM. I think if you heard the 3TM you would rethink your GayWad comment. He runs it through a Mesa Boogie Simul 295 Power Amp, and has ran it through a VHT 2:90:2. It sounds incredible, and much more gain than the stock by far. Never heard the 3.666 but don't like Mesa Dual Rec sounds anyway.

its just a chip that you would swap. I would wait till you actually get the mp-1 before you go out and by a chip.. cause when i got mine it was already updated ( when you poweron it will say the version number)
