(I'm not talking the 3TM Mod yet)

I was thinking the battery socket mod.
Anything else for starters?

Update it to the latest eprom (2.1, I think), and do the 3.666 mod. That and the Engl 530 were the best preamps I ever owned. The 3.666 gives you the Mesa Dual Rec tone from your MP-1, for $20 in updated parts.

Research as much as you can from the Ada Depot........

Those MP1s seem to be quite a deal, loads of mods available for them too.

mods are for poseurs who have shitty power amps.

don't be a gaywad.

Guess what, the stock MP1 can hang with my CAE3+ as long as you have a VHT 2150 or similar,

I have a friend who has a stock and a 3TM. I think if you heard the 3TM you would rethink your GayWad comment. He runs it through a Mesa Boogie Simul 295 Power Amp, and has ran it through a VHT 2:90:2. It sounds incredible, and much more gain than the stock by far. Never heard the 3.666 but don't like Mesa Dual Rec sounds anyway.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Would your friend be interested in selling his stock MP-1 to me? You know, to go along with the VHT 2/50/2 that just showed up at my place today??

its just a chip that you would swap. I would wait till you actually get the mp-1 before you go out and by a chip.. cause when i got mine it was already updated ( when you poweron it will say the version number)

Also, check out the "Noise Mod"
