Got an old Peavey Falcon at my parents house...

And it has that crummy Kahler trem on it. I can't remember the name, but it has roller saddles, all the fine tuners or whatever on the back have bent shafts where the threads are. It came with a chrome one, but also got a black one when I bought it. I also purchased one of the Kahler 2700s or whatever, the ones that are supposed to be really nice but I never installed it.

Anywho, is it worth doing anything with this guitar? It needs a pickguard and pickups/pots/switch, but the body and neck are in relatively good shape. There doesn't seem to be anything to the frets, so I doubt I'd ever be able to level them if they needed it.

Is there any trick to making the factory trem worth a damn and hold tune or is it best to just sell it off for parts or whatever?
 
I had a usa custom shop one with the kahler....it was a killer guitar. My kahler self blocked and I used it as a hardtail. It out "stratted" a strat imo......that's one I wished I would have kept. The weak link on it was the electronics. If you have another Kahler to swap out, and if it's a usa model...I would try to line it out...imo...I would love to have another one personally....
 
It is a USA model. The Kahler is the 2500, I had to Google it. So if I run the factory chrome one (so it matches the other hardware), I just need new fine tuner knobs. If I run the black one, I'll still need fine tuner knobs, but also blocks that the finer tuners screw into....or maybe it was the chrome that needed it. Anywho, a stock bride will probably need anywhere from $40 to who knows what's to be complete. Then, add a $40-60 pickguard, some pickups, and pots/knobs and I've got a few hundred in the guitar.

However, I'd have a Stratty guitar that is USA made for cheaper than buying a used USA Strat but I would have a crummy bridge lol
 
I'm weird-I like kahlers.....but I don't trem...lol....for me they're a weird hardtail bridge with extra mass.
 
is yours heavy? mine was really heavy. not sure if it was maple or what.....
