Got asked to do a trade today...

A guy I used to play shows with just shot me a message about trading amps.
His - A Framus Cobra. Completely even trade for my 50 watt 5153, simply because he misses having a 5150 tone.
His tolex is kind of beaten, and the logo is missing. But it's still a Cobra, and no longer in production. Could easily retolex this, and redo the faceplate.

Just wanted to see some of your opinions on here, as I feel like this is possibly too good to be true...

Will be meeting up with him tonight to try the amp out and possibly do the trade.

I like the cobra better than the 5153. But IMO the loop on the cobra kinda sucks for what I want it to do...but there is a mod for that.

5153s are ubiquitous. You can always get another one.

I'd jump on that trade. But I always had mad love for the Cobras rhythm channel and bottom end.

Yeah, I mean, 5153's are still a dime a dozen and come up pretty cheap on the regular.

Considering grabbing some dark red and black snakeskin tolex from mojotone to rewrap it. And making the faceplate black...I'll do a project thread if all goes well tonight.

I'm not a snakeskin guy either. But I saw it on mojotone and thought "that would look insane if I blacked out the face plate."

This thing is beat to hell, but sounds massive. All is in working order, minus the foot switch. Works switching to the Crunch and Lead channel, but not clean. Not a big deal, as I plan on just using the MIDI functionality, anyway.

Aesthetically speaking, it's beat to all hell. But, I'll be working on that. Photos to follow tomorrow...
