Dayum guys, nice JEMs!

I saw one a while back at a local shop, don't recall the model but it was Japanese import, HSS config with ash body and binding. Thing sold for $1K, they had 2 at the time, a blue and a cherry red, and I didn't pick up either.

They had one at my local GC the other day for under $500....I hemmed and hawed and by the time I made it back that afternoon it was gone. Que sera sera.
I hate when that happens. I drag my feet....leave.....come back the next day. Gone. :(
I was choosing between the 3XXV and the RG2560 Prestige for $300 more, but for some reason I really wanted a maple fretboard... I thought no one would buy either of the Prestiges and I'd look into them again later, but nope, waited months too long. Here's what I missed out on (and it would've been so easy to get the Prestige into a S-H configuration too):

The last two pics were a few years ago. Love Ibanez guitars, but I'm a Suhr fan now. Just have the spalted maple Ibanez J.Custom left.

I'm picking up an 89 RG550 tomorrow if everything pans out. The first one is the best sounding hardtail Ibanez I have played. It's an RGA121.

Dude that's the current GAS, the 121...does it sound decent for chugging? I really dig mahogany bodies and maple tops, and I'm hoping that's gonna be the keeper.

Had two RGA121's. Sounded ok, but the necks were far too weak for me. I'd bend them a little and they went out of tune.
Bummer.

This thread is bad for me too!

You might have just saved me $500, man! Thanks...this is just about the first negative thing I'd heard about em.

GAS subsiiiiiiidding. Ah...that's better.

Keep it going guys...nobody here with an RGA121?

I almost bought one in Ruby Red for $400 at a GC in Columbus a few years ago. Came back a week later and it was gone.

I have a couple. I'll get a pic of my 121 later to feed your GAS.

Actives getting kicked to the curb!!! Dimarzio evolution on the neck and a BKP warpig going in the bridge once it freaking shows up!!!

Drew, I was hoping you'd post up the Jems and the J Customs; they're all awesome and so is the red RG320.

Jonl, that thing might be perfect for me; searching it out now.

It would be an 87 RG550 if some guy didn't "break up with his girlfriend cause she was making him sell it" 3 weeks after I bought it and forcing me to wrestle my money back *grumble grumble grumble*

what????

I bought it on eBay, after about a week of no contact from the seller telling me tracking number or whatever and when I ask when it'll be here he told me sorry, he isn't sending the guitar. His girlfriend that he just broke up with told him to sell it and now he doesn't want to... After talking to eBay I finally got my money back and bought a Gunslinger...

I still really, really want an 87 RG still...

Just picked up this '89 RG550 from an older female off of Craigslist that never learned to play. Has been sitting in her closet for over 20 years. I bought it so cheap I actually felt bad
I wasn't looking to pick another up. My intent was to set-it up and flip it in an attempt to fund my next amp purchase. Well, the damn thing plays so well and is in such great shape I'm having trouble letting her go.

Mike, is that you?
Yes ....Yes it is !! :D :D

Figured.....I'd recognize those anywhere....I've seen enough pics over the years. Didn't know you were on this board too...as always, nice guitars man!

Wow, some really awesome Ibby's, but we seem to be missing a little Sabre action, so let me correct that. Hey Bulletproof is that an RG565 or one of the 25th anniversary's?

My first and only Ibby, so far, it belonged to guy I knew and the first time I saw it, I had to have it, absolutely love it. I replaced the Ibby Trueduo pups with a Dimarzio Mo Joe and PAF Joe, they work really nicely in it.
