You listen to that record - and watch live vids from that era - and you understand why everyone thought Yngwie was going to be the next "guy everyone wants to be".

It never really panned out that way, though.

I think for a while back then everyone did. Practically everyone on Shrapnel was a Yngwie clone in one way or another.

Yeah, for a while, but he didn't have the staying power of a lot of the other '80s guys, and he was never the same after the car accident. I saw him twice before the wreck and about fifteen times after, and he's never again been as good as those first two times.

yeah trilogy was the end...that next one with joe lynn turner was just :gay:
but i have a cassette somewhere of y demoing some of the songs he was to do on that album prior to the wreck because a friend of mine mark weitz was briefly singing for yngwie between marc boals and JLT and would have been a much cooler singer IMO.

but if he hadn't wrapped his jag around a tree the bogota twitch sugar would have probably joe cockered him into the pine box.

did they have moustaches and smell like feet?

I remember those Hawaii concerts. The UH alcatraz show was epic. Even took a couple of lessons at hotlicks from Mark.

I was at the "car wreck" show at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. When 70strathead and I got word of the accident and that he wasn't going to play, we went up to the counter, demanded a refund and drove back to San Diego and went to a party in Point Loma where there were lots of Portuguese chicks.

I missed all this by a few years (and a thousand miles, living in Oklahoma, lol). Friends of mine that were a few years older saw Yngwie punch Bonnet onstage in Tulsa and storm off.

i would think that those puerto rican geese had REALLY smelly feet :aww: ...now,why anyone would leave a rock concert to hang out with mangy, farm animals is beyond me

i fuckin LOVE No Parole from Rock N Roll! I was definitely late to the party (i didn't listen to this album for the first time until literally like 2007) but I still remember that day lol

Posting live from the DMV!!!!
 old guy next to me sounds like he's about to cough up his ancestors!!

Yngwie always suffered from pretty cheesy album production.
Steeler was typical shCrapnel sound and rising force sounded like it was recorded in a bathroom.
No parole was decent sounding but the band was better suited backing Charles Nelson reiley than the young Viking.
I always loved yngwies playing on live sentence best. Arrogant molten fury licks and the coolest strat/marshall arena tones! You can almost smell his chest hair on some of those solos.... :D

graham bonnett RUINED those records. could you imagine dio or ray gillen instead?

"they CALLED IT TNT!!!!!" tha fire-BALL that SHAMED the SUUUUUUUUNNNN!!

could anyone sing more annoying??? was the guy passing a kidney stone during that song?
they should have had yoko ono singing harmonies. and william shatner doing a sing/speak interlude for one verse.

+100 - the thing that also killed it for me was the LACK of balls on that album. If you can, check out the live tour from 1983 - much better mix, although the drummer from NewEngland/Alcatrazz is fucking weak - which I think was another reason Yngwie fucking bailed. GREAT songs, and playing by Yngwie J though.

I remember riding my bike with my friends down to KEZY near Disneyland on Ball Road here in OC. We met Yngwie and the rest of the tools from NewEngland ("never wanna lose ya" - G-HEY!!). Yngwie was the man along with a bunch of over the hill East coast guys (including bonnet - no wonder Impelliteri couldn't stand him).
