and it's awesome!

i have always wanted a pcm lexicon and this 80 or the 81 were high on my priority list. i would have preferred the 81 honestly, but i got this 80 for a great price. and overall, it was the best fit for me when considering the possible grail fx pieces i desire; tc 2290, 1210, and eventide H3000. i initially intend to use the unit for a classic hall verb across my tones, but will branch out............

i'm going to spend monday digging in a bit more with different combinations (gforce, friend's 1210, pedals) but for the very first day honeymoon period i'm very happy.

i spent many days in a friend's studio with a pcm 70, great classic, and use a pcm 91 every time i mix live sound, and there are things that are constants with lexicon's pcm sounds which make them legends, and yet each model has it's own thing as well.

the main features are how it naturally increases the SIZE of your tone, and how the pcm reverb is so realistic in creating the illusion that the sound is moving away from you, not just digitally adding a reverb effect to your sound.

i bought the dual fx card and added 4 mg simm memory cards expanding to 42 seconds of delay, and the updated v1.10 eprom.

i still need the lexicon pcm 80 pitch fx card for it to complete the package so if anyone knows where to find one, holla!

Would love to hear a clip of you playing it, I am sure you will bring it's fullest out forward with your chops and ear for tone.

i will try but this is a DEEP box so it will take some time to become fluent with it.

it's all you and italo's fault! :D

i've got my work cut out for me with this thing, but not as bad as your h8000...you need to read that phone book one day and receive a degree in physics

I've actually read, from cover to cover, ALL of the manuals about 6 times, before I got it. No degree, though some have suggested I'm certifiable. LOL

Ah yes, The PCM80. I bought one the month they came out and I still don't know how to work half of the parameters... hahaha :D

Great Piece of Gear but man o man I don't envy the hours you are going to spend tweaking

Congrats!

Congrats Pat! Did you get this unit to replace your TC electronics or just for some certain sounds?

tweedski!

in addition to... :D

when you hear a pcm up close and personal it's hard not to fetch a sproingdiddly.

i honestly have no idea at the moment how to integrate it into my current w/d rig as so much of the pcm magic is a stereo thing.

i originally thought of passing my current tone through it, as the gforce and 80 both have spdif digital ports, so out tc->in pcm, leave it set to one killer verb so no worries about switching lag time, come out balanced to my power engine, and just make the world a better place :D

but then the mad scientist starts creeping out, and w/d/w mini mixer/rack building thoughts start creeping in
only the future will tell!

Could I ask what you paid for the Dual FX card ?

I'd like to get one for my PCM81 but would like a ball park idea before I commit.

I bought a blem that he put up on his facebook page .... for under $100.

I very much like the pedal ... but who knows / other people might hate it ? I would call it a modern voice Fuzzface...

i had a big muff once , which i equated to trying to play guitar with peanut butter in my ears and nose.
the quinn sounds so much clearer, fatter, and velvety.

Ever check out a Zvex Fuzz Factory or Prescription Electronics, Inc. Experience pedals ?

Both of these pedals are a bit crazy .... they get into sounds that are kind of out there. These are a few of my favorites. I know Quinn has plans of making pedals based on the Experience & Big Muff.
