New mod day! Got my rectifier back from Dave and it friggin rocks! I only just unboxed it and played on it for about 30 minutes, but the first thing I noticed was that it sounded great right where the controls were set.
-The controls now serve towards fine tuning a singular tone in the drive channels which is voiced around the vintage mode. You can change the positions of the knobs and it won't completely fuck up your tone. Dials like a "normal" amp now. (No more studying manuals and climate patterns to dial in a good tone! )
Also, this thing is SUPER responsive now! The feel is more "true" to my playing and I can't hide behind a wall of Nickelback fuzz to hide my mistakes. It's a lot more dry now like VHT/Mark response. The gain is MUCH more usable as well. Before I never turned the gain past noon because it would turn into a messy shit sandwich. I had to get the rest of the way there with a boost. Now I don't need one! It stays tight and the gain is usable all the way. I like it at about 2:30 now.
The clean channel is better too. Clearer and takes pedals well. And the "pushed" mode is excellent! I never cared for it before, but now it's a great classic rock crunch sound that just feels great to play! Basically it's as though Dave's mod tightened the whole amp up and lifted a blanket off of the sound. Good stuff!
I'll update soon with a video when I have time. I'm home with my daughter today so she's keeping me busy.
