I know this topic has come up may times before, but heres another one.....

I recieved my Timmy pedal to after ordering it this past July.

Before I get into this I want to add that Paul Cochrane is one of the most honest and nicest guys ive met in this industry.

Ive had a Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive V1 for over a year now.

The differences between the 2 are micro minimal. The timmy is a touch more dimesional, dynamic, and clear sounding. Just a touch. I was able to get the Dano to sound almost identicle and with the same feel. I highly doubt the slight differences would be noticable to an audience, or on a youtube vid and especially not with a full band. The timmy has a toggle to select the boost type (i guess) - the Dano does not have this.

All in all the Timmy has the slight edge in tone "quality" making it the better sounding pedal. Probably due to higher build quality and higher quality components. But for me, the price difference puts the Dano on top at $40. I hate to say it, but for me, the subtle differences are not worth the 9 month wait and the extra $90. I respect the craftsmanship, quality and originality (you know what I mean) of this pedal and its designer and I am happy to have it in my collection. Though im not sure if ill keep it around.

So long story short, and again I hate to admitt it. For me - the Danelectro Transparent Overdrive wins the gold.

Thanks for the review!

I been loving my Danelectro Transparent Overdrive since you turned me on to it last summer.
It is such a valuable link in the chain.

I mentioned this awhile back regarding the Dano pedals. They make blatant clones of the Timmy and OCD. If you're on a budget, I say get 'em. If you're all about morals and supporting the working man, feel free to spend the extra money on the real thing. There's no doubt that the real thing is better quality, but for us poor folk, I think the Dano stuff gets the job done.

If your Timmy has the toggle switch, that is the new version V2. You used to have to open the pedal to get to that.

There was a huge blowup over the Danelectro versus the Timmy. Just be aware that the new Danelectro TOD V2 is not the same pedal as V1, they changed the design.

Love both my V1 TOD and CO-1.
They are the only boosts I use now.

Yeah Im glad I have the Timmy. And like I said, Pual C is one of the best guys ive ever dealt with. I deffinatley have the V2. Paul just shipped it to me. My CTO-1 is a V1. Theres no doubt in my mind that the CT0-1 is deffinately a Timmy knock off. They are almost identicle. Except the Timmy is hand build with care in the USA with top notch parts and the Dano is over seas prabably and with cheapo surface mount components

I have the TOD and Drive. They are both very cool pedals for what they cost.

Nine months? One made per month or are people just continuously buying and selling these for double?
I buy em and sell 1/2 price.......

I heard a rumor that the CTO v2 was designed to make it easier to dial in the sound of the Timmy despite the fact that the design is technically different. I'd love to see a comparison of the 3 pedals.

Which one is the clone of the OCD?

Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive = Timmy Clone
Cool Cat Drive = OCD Clone

I am a huge fan of the TOD. Amazing pedal. I also got the Vibe and Tremolo with the TOD for a mere $100. Can't beat that.

Combined with my SD-1 GT, all I need is a Tubescreamer of some sort and I am done. I guess the OCD is really a variant of the TS anyway...hmmmm. Cool Cat Drive??

I'm anal enough that it would continually bug me that I didn't have the "slight edge in tone" and "higher quality." I personally would spend the extra $ on the Timmy (and I did ;) ).

And let me say, after a year of owning the CC Drive, it is also a fantastic pedal. Easily worth double what it goes for

Good. I'm happy with my CTO-1 anyways. Great pedal and at $40 you can't go wrong. The Version 2 is different though. I heard some clips and did not recognize it or like it TBH. To each their own...

I have the CO-1 Drive and its noisy as hell. dont ever use anymore.
