When I got my first real amp the Peavey Transtube supreme, the Ultra plus was a current Peavey offering. As a teenager, I thought the logo changing color was cool.

Congrats on the Ultra plus :)

I have one that's been sitting in my closet for like 5 years. What's the going rate for one of these bad boys?

got mine for 300. thats usually a good middle ground on prices. what kind of shape is the amp in? if my boss decides to buy my Recto i may try to take your Ultra! nothing wrong with backups, right?
Sure thing, let me know!

I fired mine up yesterday for the first time in a few weeks... this amp really speaks to me! Sounds great with every axe, but especially my Wolf & HP. I used the Ultra Plus on all my leads in the video in the signature below (I'm the first player).

Strange but true: I have had trouble getting this amp profiled on my Kemper, the low end kept coming out awful. Mr. Kemper chimed in on a thread and mentioned that there a few (very few) amps that do not profile accurately; apparently this Ultra + is one of them.

i watched your vid a few times...its good stuff! this amp just does it...can do lower gain, high gain, sustain for days it seems, really clear and chunky, and very cutting. cleans arent too shabby either! just wish i had a chorus pedal still!

and good on knowing the Kemper cant profile it accurately...maybe that will make it more collectable!  ;) would love to try the Kemper though, looks and sounds amazing!

Thanks! I had a lot of choices with mts mods for lead tones, but that Ultra+ tone/feel is so alluring!
The Kemper is a great unit, but I tried & failed at profiling the Ultra+ again...it falsely thinks there's a noise gate in the system, then spits back a profile that has too much sizzle and lacks the warm low thunder of the amp. Strange, because it nails everything else I throw at it. I guess the Ultra+ doesn't want to be profiled and flipped! Enjoy, the more I play this amp the more I love and feel slackjawed when i think of the cheapo pricetag

yea...i know what you mean. i bought the mesa for 800...the Ultra for 300. im not knocking the Mesa, it is an amazing amp, and i really do enjoy its tone for rhythm playing. i just cant get the lead tones i want without boosting and, maybe im the laziest guitarist of all time, but i absolutely hate having too much stuff to step on. and i love just plugging straight into an amp. Recto with boost = awesome, and for leads it works. but i just dont want to deal with it. i get the tone i want straight into the Ultra. just like with my 5150 when i had it. i has THE tone that i was after, no muss, no fuss. and thats what we all search for, right?

and i guess i have to say i gave the Mesa a fair shake, and Rectos just arent my bag. one day ill try a Mark series and see how that goes possibly, no harm in testing things out, amirite? but the Ultra is going nowhere. someone is going to have to kill me and pry it from my cold dead hands, or steal it like some scumbag did with my 5150. either way, its in the arsenal, its not leaving, and as you can see above, im already looking into picking up another! need to see if my boss is still interested in the Recto...im sure he is, but his wife might have the final say, know what i mean?

hope this all stays low key...i want these Ultras to remain affordable. :gethim:

I've owned a lot of amps and the only one I miss and regret selling is my Ultra Plus. One of these days I need to pick up another one if I can find it for the right price and in near perfect condition like mine was that I stupidly sold.

you know, everyone i see who has owned an Ultra basically kicks themselves for selling it. just more reason for me to hang onto it!

i think Peavey should reissue these things. or maybe a reboot...same sound as the original, with seperate EQs for the Crunch and Ultra channels. i know...i know...XXX and JSX, 3120, XXX II...but they are voiced differently. bring back the original tones, with the boost switches. wonder why they even took those out? adds so much versatility!

i have one i would sale or trade, it is like new with footswitch, make me a offer
