That sucks dude, Mojo sent.

Get him to read a bit about fasting and chemo. There is some research coming out showing just how effective fasting alone is in slowing down cancer growth, and it can make your system deal with chemo a lot better, and have less side effects. Basically when you fast your system sends out hormones that tell your cells to focus on repairing instead of re-creating new cells since there is a shortage of nutrients, and energy needed to make new cells, so that makes your current cells focus on repairing and becoming stronger. Cancer cells don't respond to the hormones, so they stay more vulnerable to chemo. At least that is what I got from hearing about some of the studies that are currently being done. At the least it is something that is easy to do, and might be able to help.

Thanks for the support guys and I'll pass it along.

Unfortunately, he's had three different consultations and he's getting the same answer continually.

I'm also in NC for college and I won't head back up to MA until Christmas. Work/School wouldn't allow for it. Since it's not next of kin especially, I couldn't pop up for a couple of days.

Which college? I go out to NC to see my parents once a year around Xmas. Bill (RedRider) usually go have dinner every year. My dad just retired from teaching at Duke.

I go to ECU in Greenville.

Oh cool. What was his department?

Sorry to hear this...sounds like a great guy too. Thoughts, prayers and mojo sent!

Tell him to remain positive, keep a good attitude and believe he can kick cancers ass and his odds will improve more than what the doctors are saying. I had a friend who had leukemia, he wasn't supposed to make it. They even told the family one day to tell everyone to come to the hospital because they didn't think he'd make it until the next day....he's been cancer free for a few years now.

Warm thoughts And best wishes for your friend. Sounds like a wonderful person.

He was microbiology. They live in La Grange - not too far away. My sister goes to MT. Olive.

Oh cool! Neither is too far away from me. I've only been in NC over two years now but Megan and I are moving to FL this coming July.
