Got the Friedman BE-OD today...

Watched numerous vendors on EBay, Amaxon and Reverb basically sell out of the BE-OD from Friday until today Monday. It's obviously selling well.

For me I really wanted it. To push my 2203 into "HBE / JBE land" but after lots of discussion here it seems like this may not be possible?

I have yet to hear a demo of a NMV or MV Marshall pushed by the BE-OD and I (my wallet) don't want to be the one to experiment first.

I'm getting one for my jcm800, and from what I'm reading it sounds like it will be a bad ass fit for this amp. I've had alot of pedals and I'm not expecting a miracle, I'm sure it will rock!

I have a '79 JMP 2204 and the pedal works great with it too. But you will need to run the amp very clean or the pedal gain near zero, unless you're playing Cookie Monster metal. This is not the kind of pedal I'd use to just add a little edge to your gain channel or as a boost. I suppose you could make it work that way, but you'd have to turn the internal trim pot way down and do a lot dialing in.

He`s got the trim pot at noon and gain all the way off . At the moment I`ve got the trim pot all the way off and I`m adding just a touch from the gain pot . I thought it would be overkill even at those settings but it`s actually somewhat tame. Dialing it in really is a piece of cake if your used to using OD/Distortion pedals

No offense meant to anyone here but...... That was basically a clean tone.

Everyone seems to be steering clear of putting out a demo of this pedal in an actual/traditional Overdrive setting. You know like running a high gain amp balls to the wall and throwing an OD in front to add some edge/tighten things up.

From what I have heard this is an amazing pedal. But it seems to be an amazing distortion pedal. I guess the term OD is subjective but when I see an OD I think 808. I still have yet to see a demo for this application and reserve judgement until then.

I did not, thanks for pointing that out. I saw/heard the first clip there and moved on because it did not really fit my application. I listened a few times and I can hear the difference but this may be a pedal I have to just try myself to decide on or will wait until someone uses as a boost with the same riff the whole time off and on.

I've been kind of window shopping for new OD pedals, Suhr Koko V1 is at the top of the list but I would also like a "preamp"/distortion pedal to used with a 44 Magnum Power amp as a backup or portable rig. I think this pedal may fit what I need but I play modern metal so it is hard to judge until Fluff posts a clip or I try for myself. Seems like a killer pedal though either way.

So I revisited the pedal last night. It's great as a distortion pedal into a clean/low gain amp, but I still can't dial it in to my liking as a boost to a dirty-ish amp. Yes, I did play with the gain pot inside.

What I did was turn the trim pot all the down and the gain pot all the way down then settled with the trim pot at 7-8 o'clock and the gain pot still all the way off . You might have tried all that also. It works great into my Spalwn SS

I've been busy the last couple days - but trying to keep up lol. Thanks for sharing your findings/settings, I'm going to try them today and see if I like it better then where I'm at (pretty damn satisfied thus far).

Works really good with a Friedman amp. I have a Friedman JJ and when i Boost the BE side of the amp with some tweaking on the pedal i can get 98% close to when it is in the JBE mode. No loss of tone at all. I did turn down the gain trim to off position. That is the only way this pedal acts like a boost. If the gain trim is turned up it is a distortion pedal which is to much gain for an amp that already has gain. I will try it with my Runt that will be in tomorrow if it is lacking gain.

Ya does not work well at all with my JMP....The cusac is the magic pedal for boosting that amp...Like i said i did get pretty good results boosting the BE side of my Friedman...And yes i have the bass all the way up and the presence all the way down and treble around 11 o clock for it to sound around the same as the amp with no tone loss. I have the gain all the way down and just use the volume to get some added bite. After having the pedal a few days i do agree it is more made for a clean amp.

I prefer it into a clean amp, with the gain at 10:00 and internal trim at 9:00 it gets about as much gain as I need there its very clear and with very low hiss level... the EQ is very responsive and easy to dial in a good tone.

I've only tried it with my Mark V's clean ch and I was pleasantly surprised.
I am an amp distortion guy, after trying many distortion pedals and realizing pedals just don't come close to the tube distortion, but this is the first pedal that really wow'ed me.
This thing has too much gain so I really see this pedal as turning your beloved clean amp into a gain monster box. I will try with my Marshalls and VHT and see how it does tomorrow.

Strange things like that can happen. When I was in the music store sampling the SmallBox last year, I set my android phone down ON THE HEAD. Every time I stopped playing we were hearing this ugly crackling interference sound - I told the salesman I was concerned and probably gonna pass. We couldn't figure it out, the amp was brand new. We changed cables, guitars, cabs, etc, nada...still hearing it, assumed a tube, or worse, the amp was faulty. Then I got a text, grabbed the phone, set it down on the other side of the amp room - boom, ugly sound vanished lol.

It all started for me back in '81, when I got my first Peavey Bandit amp. Plugged it in, and it sounded OK, except for a loud hum. I shielded my LP electronics cavity, sprayed all the pots with electronics cleaner - still buzzz. Then, I realized the adapter I used to convert the "new" 3-prong plug to fit into my old 2-prong socket was upside down! Turned it around (with the ground in the right place), and SILENCE!

You will get some hiss if you have the Internal trim cranked and the gain pot cranked which is normal with that much gain, mine is setup fairly low so it's very quiet in my rig.

Those Dimmers can cause some nasty hum!

What's really annoying is I'm playing downstairs, and when someone (kids) turn the upstairs lights on and dim them, I also get a nasty hum! I bought a Monster line conditioner, didn't do anything to solve that dimmer problem.
