Is one better than the other? I have been using a regular pencil but I played last night and my guitar just kept going out of tune. never really had a problem before.

I've used soft lead pencils for ages, never a problem.

Just my 2 cents,
V.

Big Bends Nut Sauce works great and is really easy to apply.

Me too.
Me 3
Big Bends Nut Sauce. I use it for sex with my Woman too. Works for about 4 days and the applicator works great..

Get a graphite nut and saddles, then you don't have to worry about pencils/nut sauce/etc

for those who said they used a pencil. how often did you guys apply it? did you just do the nut or rub on top of the string while it is in the nut?

Rub it in the slots with the strings removed. You shouldn't need it too often. If the strings a getting hung up on the nut that much the slot size might be wrong for the gauge strings you use.

I have to admit, big bends nut sauce was awesome BUT i had to reapply after a few weeks of serious bendage. If you are gigging or recording, lube it up. Works as advertised though... I did the Brad Gillis trick of whammy masturbation and it held up.

the sauce.

Just my experience, YMMV...

Graphite nut?
As mentioned, I found my GraphTech experience somewhat short lived...the nut wore down fast. Now, onto an entirely DIFFERENT angle, I've used and am still seriously intrigued with bell brass nuts. Yes, brass. The sustain was sick, it added a beautiful richness to the strings, and it didn't wear down nearly like the GraphTech did.

Just sayin',

there is something about brass guitar nuts - yngwie strats use them and i swear it had something to do with the sustain that guitar carried or something. i only demoed one for a few hours so i cant really tell, but if i were to ever build a strat copy of one, the brass nut would be a requirement not an option IMHO.

u guys crack me up, u have a 3 grand guitar yet hesitate on spending the 6 bucks on the nut sauce   is it really worth grinding up old pencils?
