The2017 classic is down to $1399 too!

Went and played a couple today. Couldn't have been set up worse. The Epis on the wall were better players. Made me really sad. The strings were so oxidized/rusted that they felt like saw blades. WTF??

sadly Gibson USA models require almost extensive setup once purchased. A large majority need a new nut cut and replaced just to begin the setup. Too many high E close to the edge issues.

A lightweight classic or traditional once setup is a sweet playing guitar.

That's below average. I got a 2017 explorer that needed setup, but plays great now.

Never had much luck right out of the box with them.

It's not so much about the setup I guess - that's an individual thing anyway. It's more about the atrocious condition. That said, G B E strings all buzzed like a bastard, and I couldn't control that by raising the bridge. Guitars in that range need to be given just minimal attention if you want to sell them IMO. If I pick one up and it stinks from the word go, I'm moving on. Seems that would help GC out a bit, and they need all the help they can get. Of course, you walk into one, and they are woefully understaffed, and the staff that's there doesn't want to be there anyway.

I played a Traditional T the other day at a local shop and was very impressed with it. It played great with no setup issues. Fit & finish was fine. Unplugged it was fairly resonant. Plugged in it sounded good as well. I'd change the pickups, but that's a personal preference thing. Overall, the one I played was a great guitar for the money.

I said screw it and ordered the classic in ocean green but got Sam ash to price match to avoid sales tax.

And GC.

Not a bad idea!

^^^^^^ Saw that. I feel lucky to get in there now

Yep. Ordered a Traditional. Zzounds beat the GC price and Chicago Music Exchange matched that one for the one I wanted!

They should be ashamed of themselves.
With prices in the 2000's and the quality of work is poor? ?

No way
