We all have bands we like/liked that had great guitars players that never really were in the spot light due to the music machine, ballads, commercial image, etc. So post them up!!!

When I think about it, Bill Leverty of Firehouse comes to mind. I always thought he was a monster player with great chops, melody and good tone.

Devin Townsend!!!!

The guy is light years ahead of the generic rock and metal crap that's popular, but he will only ever get recognition for it from an elite crowd. That may be a good thing though.

Yes Vito is another great one.

EVH, that's a tough one, he was Van Halen, so I don't think his presence was minimal in the band.

Cobalt Stargazer from Zodiac Mindwarp.

Adrian Vandenberg. Unfortunately didn't get much of a chance to showcase his stuff with Whitesnake. Too late to the recording party.

How about Slash?

I think Slash falls into the same category as EVH. He's as much a part of the band/image as Axl was.

Matthias, under the huge shadow of Uli. Scorpions really became a different but still, just as good band, when Uli left. Matthias was perfect for their more straight ahead, hard rock approach. Unfortunately Uli's stuff with the Scorps was about as tasty as lead guitar can get.

Don't know their names (case in point) but the guys from Fates Warning. Great stuff, but you never even hear about the band most places.

David T. Chastain. I don't think he necessarily got 'lost in the machine,' it was more like he never really got picked up by it. The CJSS 'Praise The Loud' album was one I spent a lot of time listening to. (And ripping off licks from. :D )

Used to go see him play at Bogart's in Cinci all the time. We opened for him a few times. He was always very cool. The two CJSS albums have some cool tunes. Ruler of the Wasteland and 7th of Never are my two favorite Chastain albums.

Another really good player is Micheal Harris....pretty rippin!
