Total number of coal power plants in the USA: 186
Total number of coal power plants in China: 1,198



I don't blame China tbh. They are doing what every country should which is make their country as competitive as possible and enacting policy which sees a growing middle class. The evil is the people in the West that facilitate China and other countries to do this, the people in the West that profit off China having lower wages and non-existent environmental regulations. China is still under 'developing nation' status with the WTO/UN, which means they don't have to watch their pollution contribution as much as Western countries and get dinged economically in various ways, while having the highest legit GDP and causing the most pollution of any country on Earth.

Incredible how China can add coal-fired power stations at an unprecedented rate of knots (up to 2 a week IIRC) and yet maintain or reduce its net carbon output.

Because it is more than offset by the reductions in transportation emissions.

Carbon credits are a fucking scam. It's like Dan used to argue that when it comes to climate change we shouldn't be listening to people like Al Gore or Greta. Anyone hawking carbon credits should be roundly ignored.

I hoped to awaken something in him by pointing out that he's apparently more-willing to trust the CCP's data than US intelligence's.
