greenbacks with peavey 5150/ultra?

I have a peavey cab, and want to switch out the speakers for greenbacks and V30's or G12T 75's. Has anyone tried this combination with the 5150/ultra amp? I just dont like the speakers very much that are in my peavey MS cab. Has anyone switched out speakers in their peavey cab for different speakers? And how does it sound compared to the stock speakers? Thanks!

I hate peavey's Sheffield speakers. I had a 5150 combo that I thought sounded decent until I plugged it into a greenback 4x12 and literally did a double take when I played it. I took the speakers out of the combo and put in a couple greenbacks and made a HUGE improvement in that amp.

I haven't taken them out of a 4x12, but I've played through one with the Sheffields and it sucked as much as as they did in the combo.

Well, how did the sound imProve over the sheffields, can you tell me what you specifically liked more about the greenbacks?And, can you get a pretty heavy sound with the greenbacks in there?

I think greenbacks sound KILLER with 5150's. Lots of people use greenbacks for high gain, including me.

I just started another thread on greenbacks.. I like them too and I think they hold up to gain quite well ina closed back cab BUT I am having issues with harsh highs so maybe the green beret is the way to go.
