Whats your experience with Ground Control Pro?
Does it have all features one could need from such a pedal or is it lacking in any way? What can more expensive units do that GCP can't?

I'm going to control a Diezel VH4 via midi, an eventide modfactor and an eventide eclipse. I'm going to add a separate switcher for a couple of analog pedals as well, perhaps a G Lab midi 4x looper.
It would be nice to have a pedal board that gives me acces to a couple of programmed presets and a couple of pedals for turning individual effects on and off.
From what I have read the GCP can do this, but is it the ultimate solution or are there better control pedals out there (within a reasonable price range)?

A Skrydstrup SC-1 pedal http://www.skrydstrup.com/sc1.htm costs 1340 Euros, and the GCP cost 469 Euros. What is the big difference in performance?

I don't know the Skydstrup so I can't compare them.

I'm using mine with the LS42 by Advanced Tube Technology and a Diamond/RJM switcher (soon to be upgraded to an RG16).

The only thing that really bothers me is this: when I add IA switches/functions to any given preset and then change to another preset I also loose the IA's I switched in before.
From what I read on the Voodoolab forum a GCP in combination with a GCX can pull this off. I'm hoping the RG16 also enables me to do so.

I'm not even sure other pedals allow you to do this anyway.

Another nice feature would be the ability to send more than one cc from one IA-button.

Multiple cc:s would perhaps be nice, but I don't think I would like IA switches to follow into the next preset. If you want that behaviour perhaps its better to take that pedal out of the switcher and turn it on/off directly on your pedalboard.

I think the Liguid Foot Pro is the best there is, I mean the kid from "The Muse" uses it...

...but for the price you cant beat the GCP.

I forgot to add if you get a switcher get the GCX, its just easier to setup with a GCP.

I use mine with a RJM-16 and luv it. I had 2 GCX units and sold them, didnt like all the patch cables, the RJM also controls 2 of my amps with the RJM cables and 8 effects. I would like to have a Liquid Foot but for the price the GCP cant be beat.

With the GCP, are you limited to 4 preset buttons and 8 IA buttons,or can you use e.g. 8 preset buttons and 4 IA buttons?

Nope, it's 4 and 8 or 12

+1. LF Pro IS the best. We're not talking tone here so it's not an opinion but a fact. Simply does everything every other midi controller does and so much more. 2 issues: Expensive and the company is going through some growing pains right now (customer support has ceased the past few months).

I've made some thinking.
What I would like is 8 preset buttons and 4 (perhaps max 6) IA buttons.

The liquid foot pro is too expensive, so that is not an option (for now anyway).
With the GCP I would have 4 preset buttons and 8 IA buttons. That would leave 4 of the IA buttons unused...
With a liquid foot JR I would have 4 preset buttons and 4 IA buttons.

With the GCP I would have dedicated bank up/down, that's great.
Can I use external switch pedal with the LFjr to act as a bank up/down switch?

Hmm... tough choice on what to get.

Get 2 GCPs and use one as a slave for your effects and the master for channel and amp switching.

That would be more expensive than getting a Liquid Foot Pro...

 yeah but not all at once.

True.

But how do you mean I should hook that up? From what I have read the Liquid foots can be slaved for expansion, but how does that work with the GCP:s ?

I did a search and got a hit on a voodoolab forum thread from 2009 that a future update would allow a second GCP to be a slave to another GCP. But when I searched the GCP manual there is nothing in there about it (searched for slave, master etc), so it seems this feature has yet not been implemented.

You can go in under edit and there is an area where it says "Master" or "Slave". I was going to do this and the prices are fairly cheap now for a used GCP.

It seems like the pricing is a bit different here in Sweden than it is in the States.
If I import an LFJr it will be cheaper than buying a GCP from a store here... If I order a GCP from thomann.de it will be the same price as importing an LFJr...

Your going to have to find a LFJr used though. No orders have been filled for months.
Go onto the LF forums and you'll see all the problems the company is having.

As you are in Sweden, check out the Polish guys from MarkL: http://www.marklcustom.com/
I've been using their midi-controller and looper/switcher for a couple of months and they are killer.
I used to own a GCX, tried the RJM RG16 and prefere the MarkL LS16, it just sounds better and has NO NOISE when switching. The midicontroller works flawlessly and has a lot of extra features and it comes with a nice software to program it via USB.
